Neither of your teachers were in evidence today.

However there was a hat.

Not just any hat. A most magnificent hat. The kind of hat any self respecting pirate would kill (or at the very least seriously inconvenience) a man for.

Just sitting there.

Waiting.

[IDEK. No OCD because bleaurgh.]

Ooooh, that was a mighty and magnificent hat, one that Graham could really appreciate....on an aesthetic level, because his look already involved an iconic and distinctive hat, thank you very much, one that he adjusted slightly before looking around to see who else might benefit from such a magnificent hat since he, himself, was quite contented in his hat game.

You could even go as far as to say he was ahead of that particular cap-itulation.

"That is a lovely hat," Charlie said, but I don't think it goes with my hair."

"Well," Graham pointed out, "there's an easy solution to that....just change your hair! It would, after all, be a shame of such a lovely hat didn't go to an equally lovely person!

"Unless it's cursed, of course," he added, a moment later. "Then it would probably be wise to stay away. Can you tell if a hat is cursed with any of your charms,Charlie?"

"That is a very good question," Charlie said. "I'm not sure if my charms would tell me for sure if this was cursed, and I certainly wouldn't put it past them to curse it..."

She considered. "Maybe best to admire it from afar. I'd never hear the end of it from the Aunties if I got myself cursed."

"Mmmm," Graham hummed thoughtfully, before giving a serious nod. "Best not risk it, then, although now I really am curious about what kind of curse it might even be!"

"Oh, it would have to be something dreadful, no doubt," Charlie said, indulging her flights of fancy. "Maybe it would make all your hair fall out. Or maybe you'd never be able to enjoy pizza again. Or you'd only want to eat brussel sprouts."

Graham went through quite the journey as Charlie started to list off the possible curses, eyes wide as the threat to his hair brought his hand protectively up to the back of his head. And then she mentioned never enjoying pizza again, and he gasped, gaping at her in disbelief that such a thing could even be possible, hands now protectively over his stomach.

But that last part! Oh, that last part was easily the worse, and his face screwed up in an expression of disgust, complete with his tongue sticking out.

"The only thing worse than that," he said, "would be lima beans! Zounds, Charlie, those are terrible! Remind me to never make you angry enough to insight the wrath of your curses, I'll be regretting it for the rest of my life!!

"Although," he added, thoughtfully, a moment later, "the hair one is probably the least worst of them all. I mean, you've already got this very cunning hat, maybe people won't even notice you've got no hair!"

"I don't think cursing you is in the cards," Charlie said. And given how often she reinforced the little 'mine' charm on him, nobody else would either unless they wanted to face the wrath of Charlie! "But I'm still not putting on that hat."

She grinned at him. "But... if you want to try it I'll do my best to take off any curse it might put on you. No promises, though!"

Beaker was definitely plonking that hat right on his head because consequences were for other people!

No, wait, consequences were always for Beaker. He was just...leaning into it this time.

Graham gasped! And then waited, leaning in with his eyes wide and eager, to see what might happen now that Beaker had put on the hat and surely subjected himself to some terrible, awful, horrible curse!
