"Webster's dictionary--" Did Shunsui think it was hilarious to start his class with a nearly textbook lazy way to start any speech or lecture? Yes. Yes, he did, "--defines the word lazy as mean 'disinclined to activity or exertion : not energetic or vigorous' &hearts. 'Encouraging inactivity or indolence, moving slowly, not rigerous or strict.' But I," here he flashed the students a smile, "define it as an art ♥."

Thus the name of the class! Shunsui gave the class, gathered, as always for these things in the summer, in the park, under the tree by the pond, with pot of tea to share...if anyone could be bothered to pour from it, anyway. He did gesture toward it, though, with a lift waft of his hand.

"Please," he said, "help yourself to some tea and we shall get started ♥. Today will, in the tradition of first days for classes, be remarkably lazy, with the laziest of all lesson plans to lead the way: the introduction class, of course ♥. Now, in the philosophy of the class, it is important to point out that just because something, like an introduction class, is lazy, that does not mean it is necessarily useless. Introducing ourselves to each other plays an important role in familiarizing yourself with your classmates, and perhaps even some new friends, neh ♥? So I'm sure you all know the drill by now: let us know who you are, perhaps why you were interested in learning about the Art of Laziness in the first place, and let's say your favorite lazy-day activity. And when we're finished, we can just whittle away the minutes left in the class period by enjoying the day and watching the ducks and appreciating the luxury of being far lazier than them as they swim and dive and flutter about ♥."

Maybe even pour yourself some tea. Or have someone pour the tea for you, even better! Perhaps get started on watching the ducks instead of listening to Shunsui. Or really prove how much you need this class by taking notes...on the introductory class.

Charlie used a little charm to have her tea pour itself, then settled back with a contented sigh.

Is an introductory class lazy but necessary, or just plain lazy? Either way, that's what you've got today!

"I'll, of course," he ducked his head a little, reverently, "go first ♥. My name is Shunsui Kyōraku, I have been a teacher here and owner of the lovely little Turtle & Canary in town for a while now, on and off ♥." He waved a hand as if to dismiss those eight-odd years in between the first time and the current one. "I am also a captain of a group called the Gotei 13, which protects my world, the Soul Society, as well as the living world, and, considering that I spend significantly more time here in parks watching ducks than I do there, you can see that I much prefer a calmer, lazier existence ♥. I've never understood the point of putting undue energy into anything, really; perhaps a bit Zen of me, but what will be, will be, no need to break too much of a sweat over it, neh ♥? My favorite lazy day activity would probably be napping, preferably after a few steamed pork buns washed down with some sake, in the company of a beautiful woman ♥."

And he was just going to take a small moment to appreciate that perfect little microcosm of lazy comfort before sending glance around at the students. "And who do we have next ♥?"

"Charlie Gale, student, out of Canada, and the Aunties are always saying how lazy I am, so this seemed like the perfect class. I do love to play music," she tapped her guitar lightly, "And it's a great way to while away the time."

"Charlie-chan ♥," Shunsui smiled and ducked his head, tilting his hat a little in response to her introduction. "Lovely to have you here ♥. If anything, perhaps you might be able to point out to your Aunties that, if you're going to be anything, even lazy, might as well be good at it, neh ♥? And you can assure them," he added, with a chuckle and a wink, "that you're learning from one of the absolute best, in that regard ♥.

"What do you think," he then proposed, in a musing tone, "of a little lazy strumming to provide a musical counterpart to our introductions and duck-viewing ♥?"

Charlie laughed. "I think they'd say I was quite good enough, but then they also always say that practice makes perfect, so here I am!"

She leaned back against the tree and checked the tune of her guitar. "I think that's a wonderful idea," she said, and played a quiet, wistful tune as the class went on.

"I'm Gray," Gray said with a little wave, "and I'm the bearer of Sloth, so...that. On a lazy day I like to watch anime in between naps."

He is, after all, planning on sipping his tea and watching the ducks and maybe even napping a bit well after the class is over...
