Mathematics: All Classes: Wednesday 4.26.06 Period 1

"Good morning!" Broots is once again perky in the morning.

"Beginners, your final is going to be this Friday. Intermediate class, your presentations are due a week from today. Intermediates? You're dismissed from Friday's class. I will assume that you are in the library, working on your projects.

For today, you guys get a work book and you get to choose what problems to work. If you'd rather ask me anything about previous assignments, feel free to do that or work on your projects. Have fun!"

Walter sat down and set out the things he and Angela would need to work on their project. She was welcome to work on the workbook, but hey, glitter.

Strangely enough, Angela prefers to play with the glitter.

The designs she's making are pretty fractal-ish, though.

Pippi worked on the workbook.

Molly worked on the workbook.

Holy cats, fun! Kiki is amazingly chipper this morning. It must be the thrill of math ~~or her mun is ADD liek whoa today~~.

John does mathy things.

During class

Broots was studying for his own finals.

Pippi would like to know how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

"A lot."

Mac is hovering in the doorway, fiddling with a CD case. She sees he's studying, and thinks twice about disturbing him. In the end she figures she might as well, no harm in it. She's full of geeky joy and needs to share.

She clears her throat, "hey, Broots."

Broots glanced up from his book and waved at Mac. "Yo."

Well, he seems pretty cheery which is always a good thing. She grins.

"Okay, I have this friend back in Neptune, with a crazy love of Linux: Ubuntu... Don't ask, I think he's certifiable for that." She pauses, "anyway, he's been fiddling with some updates and," she waves the CD, "sent me a copy."

"Actually for once he kinda impressed me. It's only a live CD, but the graphic updates are so much more than I'd expect." She pauses thinking she might be sounding a little too enthusiastic, then decides she should explain. "I would try to show my room-mate, but she doesn't really get it. So uh, I came to you." She shuts up again, and shrugs realising she probably should let him get a word in.

Broots had been intentally following that and started turning on his laptop. "Pull up a chair. And yeah, I think most students here would think we're insane." He grinned at her.

Her grin widens, yay! for the likeminded. She grabs a chair from a desk nearby so they she can see the screen and hands him the CD. "When it comes to OS's, I'm normally an Apple girl through and through. I'm not big on change, but when it's temporary it at least keeps me amused, and it's kinda shiny."

"Plus, there's a screensaver with a bouncing cow. ~~Mooo!~~ It's worth it for that alone."

Broots tapped a few keys and waited for the computer to catch up with him. Then he blinked. "Moo? For real? Someone had too much time on their hands. I preffer PC's myself, though I'm denying the existance of Microsoft XP."

"Oh yeah, for real," she sniggered. "There are sound effects to go with it. Life is so not complete without the boing-n-moo."

"XP has more bugs than an entomology class. They re-use too much coding from previous versions. It just doesn't mesh like it should, plus the interface just gets more confusing as the version number get higher." She blushes, getting a little too rambly maybe.

"My personal pet peeve against is that it crashed my seventh laptop. I was just trying to install it and Boom! Error...error...error. It was fun."

"Ah, the joys of that big blue screen," she nodded in commiseration. "It's one of the signs of the apocalypse in my book."

"So, nice teaching gig you landed." She comments, waiting for the boot screen to finish loading. "Impressive."

"There's a reason it's called the blue screen of death. And uh, thanks. Thankfully it's only for this semester. I don't think I'd manage to keep doing this next term."

She nodded, "well the name certainly fits."

"I guess however cool it is to be able to say you teach here, it must take up a hell of a lot of time. I have the opposite, all my teachers have up and left, so I have no classes and quite honestly am bored out of my mind."

"Only a few of my teachers left. Who'd you have?"

"I had a couple of classes with Ms Sidle, one with Dr Grissom, and now, nothing." She shrugged, "I should probably be grateful and enjoy the last bit of term without work. Problem is after a week or so it gets a bit monotonous."
