Paintball!, Thursday - 4th Period

Your teachers were actually here this week! And looking maybe a little sheepish about it.

"Sorry about last week, I got a little too wrapped up in design work," Tony told the class.

"And I went back to our temporary quarters to shower off the Jello from Jane and Cara's class and completely forgot about turning around again. My apologies," Steve added, turning red.

"But we're back!" Tony said, clapping his hands together once. "And it's time to showcase your skills at paintball in the most simple of courses. There's cover and there are paintball guns. And jumpsuits too because we know you don't want to get your clothes stained for a class."

Maybe.

"Especially if you've already changed once from Jello," Steve added. "Um. No special powers today if they're the sort of things you can turn off, okay?"

"Let's have some fun!" Tony added brightly.

Summer really probably should have skipped out on this today, because last night and this morning had been a very important lesson on why professional masseuses were a very important thing to consider, and that, even with someone trying to be super sneaky with healing efforts when he thought she was too tired to have noticed, she really should have just stayed in bed all day.

So when she got out there and was very quickly hit by...whoever it was that managed to hit her, she just looked down at the splotch of paint that did her in and declared, in the most rote, deadpan, sarcastic voice imaginable, "Oh, no, I got hit, not that. What will I do now? How devastating, guess I'll just go home now..."

Or to the onsen. She was definitely thinking she'd just go to the onsen.

"All right?" Stark called out, peering out from where he'd taken cover.

Anakin ran past, taking a shot as he went. "No schmoop during paintball!"

"No what?" Stark asked as he dropped down.

"Is that a real word?"

He fired off a shot of his own but it went wide.

"It's a real word!" Anakin assured him. "Rory's mother uses it!"

That didn't necessarily make it a real world, Stark.

"What does it mean?" Stark asked, carefully moving himself into position for another shot at Anakin.

"Because romantic and overly invested in someone and not your paintball game," Anakin summarized badly.

"I'm not being romantic!" Stark sputtered, firing off another shot.

"And I'm not overly invested. Don't say that!"

What if Summer heard??

"And now you're overcompensating!" Anakin called back, hiding under a table.

"I am not," Stark insisted, coming out from his spot to just keep firing at Anakin.

"We're not. I'm not. It's... not!"

Methinks the alien doth protest too much.

Being patronizing might get you shot, Anakin! Stark was doing his best to ensure that.

"It's true!"

It had to be true! He wasn't supposed to make it weird! It wasn't supposed to be serious!

Stark was now just spraying shots in Anakin's direction indiscriminately. One of them had to hit eventually, right?

"We're friends!"

"So were Rory and I!" Anakin yelled back, crawling to new cover.

"That's not the same thing," Stark insisted, aiming at Anakin's ass. For fun.

"Not at all!"

"It could just be your robes," Stark said, ducking back behind a column.

"You're making this difficult."

One of them was going to run out of paint eventually, right?

"If you turn around I'll shoot you in the front! Or the side. Whichever you like!"

They had such a sweet friendship.

Which was one of the paintballs connected.

"Damn."

Stark laughed and scampered back to his original spot to wait for his next victim.

"That's much better!"

Alara was definitely quite enjoying herself with all this and was rather pleased with how well that she seemed to be doing.
