Introduction to Dinosaurs - Tuesday, 1st Period
Connor was a bit distracted as he sat at the front of the class that morning. And it was a good distracted because Rex was visiting the class as was apparently tradition for these classes. So, Connor sat at the desk paying with Rex, getting him to do the few tricks he had been teaching him, and giving him lots of skritches and belly rubs. It was a nice distraction from the trouble his hand was giving him lately, and also a good reason not to have to talk to Cutter, at least for the time being. Once Cutter started the lecture, that might be different.
Cutter looked a little sadly over at Connor playing with Rex, he had been glad that Connor had brought Rex to the class since they were going to be talking about the Coelurosauravus, “welcome back,” Cutter said softly once it was clear that he was being expected to start class this week, “this week we’re going to be talking about the Coelurosauravus and we have Rex here, who comes from the Permian period,” Cutter began, “the Coelurosauravus were found in Madagascar and the only known specimens of the Coelurosauravus to have been found were discovered in 1907 and 1908,” he said and then stopped, hesitating and looking over at Connor for him to continue the lecture.
Connor gave a small nod and a quick glance at Cutter as he started. “Rex here is part of a group of ancient creatures known as Weigeltisauridae or gliding reptiles that lived during the Late Permian, between 259.51 and 251.9 million years ago. All creatures in this family had some form of skin membrane stretched between their limbs. And it is believed that much like the flying squirrel of today, Coelurosauravus could not actually fly but rather would jump from high places and glide great distances.”
And Rex was more than happy to demonstrate that as he had climbed up to the top of the closest bookcase and sat atop, chirping happily before jumping off to glide around the classroom. As he watched Rex having fun circling the classroom, Connor glanced over at Cutter quickly and gave a barely noticeable nod to signal he was done before he turned his attention back to Rex.
Cutter’s shoulders slumped a little at being basically ignored by Connor, he bit his lip, wanting to say something but decided to wait until after class before he talked to Connor, “for the rest of the class, I’d like you to work on your worksheets on the Coelurosauravus. We’re here if you have any questions or want to get to know Rex a little better.”

"Um ... hey?" he said, wincing a bit when it sounded like a question.

Re: Talk to Your Teachers!
He didn't realise how hard it would be to actually talk to Connor, after all this time he had thought about talking to Connor and now that he was, he couldn't think of anything to say.
Re: Talk to Your Teachers!
Connor knew he was being too harsh on Cutter, that he wasn't being fair. But he was still angry and hurt, and more than anything, confused by it all. Cutter had pushed him away and shut him out, and then suddenly he's tried to talk and act like everything is ok again?
He stood there watching Cutter keep his focus on Rex. See> He can't even look at you, let alone apologize the voice in his head said as he tried to ignore the ache in his still heavily bandaged hand.

"If you have to ask, then we are clearly in no better place than we were a week or two ago!" Connor bit back, regretting the words as soon as they were out of his mouth.
Re: Talk to Your Teachers!
He didn't realise what he'd said until the words came out of his mouth, he hadn't meant to say them and his expression instantly became regretful.
Re: Talk to Your Teachers!
"I, pushed YOU away?" Connor said with a scoffing laugh of his own. "That's rich coming from you. Who pushed who away when we first got back? Who has been standing around with a dumbfounded expression every time we are in the same room? Who is the one who cant even muster a simple apology?"
Connor's hand throbbed and he glanced down realizing he was clenching both hands. He relaxed the bandaged one but the waves of pain were still washing over him. Just another thing Cutter had caused....
Re: Talk to Your Teachers!
“I tried to open up to you first and yes, you did push me away,” Cutter spat, his accent was well and truly prominent right now, “so I’m …sorry,” he growled out the word, “that I’ve been such an inconvenience to you,” he took a deep breath, angry tears springing to his eyes, “you were the one who sent me that delivery, I didn’t ask you for you to do that and I thought you might have liked a thank you … clearly I was wrong,”
Re: Talk to Your Teachers!
"I don't want your pity thanks or apologies. I don't want an empty thank you or anything." Connor took a slow deep breath trying to tap down the emotions before they spilled over more than they already were. "Gaah, I'm such an idiot for thinking you, emotionally stunted Nick Cutter, could understand this!"
Connor looked over at Cutter hating himself for the words that had come tumbling out, hating himself for the pressure he felt building in his chest, and hating himself for the angry tears that were starting to build in his eyes.
Re: Talk to Your Teachers!
"Fine, I won't bother next time," Cutter spat, "just like you shouldn't bother, I can manage just fine on my own, I managed just fine on my own before, long before I met you,"
Well that wasn't true but he wasn't about to tell Connor that.
Re: Talk to Your Teachers!
"Fine by me" Connor snapped back as he turned away, trying to hide the tears that were starting to fall. "Aside from class stuff, you can just keep considering me invisible. You've done a good job at that so far after all."
And with that, Connor grabbed the papers and started towards the door, looking over his shoulder as he called for Rex.
Re: Talk to Your Teachers!
The tears were spilling freely down, "I ..." he started to say and stopped, he knew nothing could make up for those words, those terrible words and he could watch in dismay as Connor stormed off, he stared miserably down at the desk at Rex, unable to stop the tears, reaching out to give him a pat before he left.
Re: Talk to Your Teachers!
He called to Rex one more time, unable to turn around and face Cutter as his eyes got blurry from the tears that started to fall. He gave Rex a small pat when he landed on his shoulder and then started toward the door.
Connor almost stopped and turned around, almost apologized for what he had said, but he didn't, he couldn't; there was nothing that he could say just then that would make any of this better. So he kept walking till he was out, the door closing behind him. Then, and only then, did he reach up with his good hand to try and brush away the tears that were sliding down his face.
Re: Talk to Your Teachers!
He rested his arms on the desk and buried his head in them and he kept crying. He wasn't sure how long he sat there, sobbing but that was all he could do right then.
