Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

Even if a new term wasn't starting soon, today would be the perfect day for a picnic. The weather was calm and warm, the food table was full, and there was a respectable amount of glitter on the decorations. There might have been a bigger party going on somewhere else, but here it was time to celebrate the start of summer!

"Oh, no, surely not--" said Boc, starting to protest, shaking his head dismally, but then he seemed to remember who he was talking to, and realizing where the conversation was likely to go after that, and, hands to his head for a moment of distress, stopped himself, with a small little whimper.

His head wagged a little bit more, as he tried to work out a different approach...and actually bring himself to put it to words.

"Well, I....well, I suppose," he tried, giving a wary and skeptical look toward the tables.

It could, after all, be a trap.

"...if it's for everyone..."

"I promise it is," Stark assured him. "I'll walk with you, if you like? Or sit with you? But no one will bother you. Not here."

"Oh, no," said Boc, very quickly and somewhat adamantly, even if he did have to stop himself from calling Stark anything in addition to it. "I wouldn't ask you to do that, I don't mind being by myself. It's probably for the best, really, over all, but I am terribly hungry, and the food....well, it smells so good, too, doesn't it? Practically brought me over here, it did. I was just going to go scavenging again, for mushrooms, likely, in the preserve...."

"You didn't ask," Stark pointed out gently. "I offered. And it does smell good. It always does when they do these things. There may even be mushrooms on the tables, if you look."

"I do rather enjoy mushrooms," Boc admitted, and, cautiously, may have even started slowly forward, toward the table, though at a careful pace. "They're....familiar, you find them easily, back home. And sometimes, too, here, in the preserve. But I think I smell...pizza, too. I rather like that, pizza. That's something we don't have back home."

"There may even be pizza with mushrooms," Stark said, carefully keeping pace with Boc. "We don't have pizza where I'm from, either. We don't have many of the foods here there."

"There are whole buildings, I've noticed," Bon enthused, maybe a little eager to jump onto something that he could actually have a thought about, from his observations, from lurking around the island, "dedicated to food around here! Several of them! And all kinds, as well!"

The restaurant business? Not exactly booming in the Land Between! The closest thing you got, really, was the guy with the boiled prawns over in Liurnia of the Lakes.

Well, and maybe anyone peddling Shabiri grapes, but you didn't want any of that.

"You've been to have pizza from Raiden?" Stark asked. "Have you been to any of the others?"

He thought not, given Boc's general Boc-ness.

Boc's head shook a little from side to side. "Just the pizza from Raiden," he admitted, and he hadn't even been back there since the whole titles debacle, because he felt ever so awkward about the whole thing now. "I haven't..."

He trailed off, not wanting to make Stark go on about insisting that he had just as much rhyme and reason to patronize those establishments as anyone else.

"I haven't been to any yet," he simply said, "no."

Stark would insist that, yes.

"I don't often eat in any of them," Stark said. "The bakery, and the coffee shop but the others only very rarely. But you don't have to eat there. They'll deliver to you. You could eat in your shop, if you liked."
