"Welcome back, ducklings ♥," Shunsui greeted from his spot in their little writers' circle, having just finished pouring some tea as they started to come in and get settled. "I'm sure by now you're quite a bit in the swing of things with your regular classes, but I, myself, am not quite ready to let go of our beautiful little holiday, and I'm sure you all feel the same way, neh ♥? So I figured....we've talked a little bit on character, we've talk a little bit on plot, but we haven't talked much about setting for our writing yet, have we? Through the written word, we have the ability to make any setting, real or imagine, come as alive as if we were there ourselves ♥. Through the written word, one can be whisked away to all sorts of places without ever having to leave their seat. No trouble of packing a bag or dealing with travel, all you have to do is crack open a book ♥.

"And so today," he offered with a soft smile, "I was thinking we can work on one of two things, whichever you feel like: you can take some time to revisit your last week by weaving a story inspired by your experiences on Sumba Island, or I would like you to take some time to really develop a setting. I can be a made-up place or a real place you've been to, but really think about ways to describe it to bring it to life. Remember to tap into all the senses, as well, not just what it looks like. But how does it feel, what are the sounds, should we find the smells repugnant or pleasant? Even what tastes we may have playing on our lips as we discover this world you're crafting with your words. I have brought in some picture books and atlases from the library, as well, if you need a spark of inspiration, but, if there are no questions, ducklings, I'll simply let you get to work ♥."
