"Yes, he seemed very nice when I spoke to him at the class you invited us to. When we had time to talk and weren't fighting for our lives with sucky robots that is."

Nadia shrugged. "That might not have been the best example of shop class. But I'm glad you were able to get Mac to safety. He got his cast off, by the way."

"Oh good..." Pippi took a bite of pitza.

"And the tail?"

"Tail?" Nadia frowned. "Oh, yes. That's off, too."

"Oh good. He didn't seem to like it." she said. "Was that your final project?"

"Killing robots? Or getting Mac's tail off?" Nadia grinned, purposefully misunderstanding.

"Right now, I'm kinda wondering more what you were able to find in that junkyard to take the tail off..."

"Oh, we used a doctor's office for that. Wouldn't want Mac to get sick, after all."

Pippi wonders what kind of wasteful person would throw away a perfectly good doctor's office.

Nadia dug into her food with rather unqueenly enthusiasm. "So, how has your day been, Lady Pippi?"

Pippi shrugged and tucked into her pitza.

"Uneventful as of yet." she said with her mouth full. "And yourself?"

"Queenly." Nadia responded. She wondered if it would be considered uncouth for her to squee a little over the events of yesterday morning. "I've had a good weekend, though. You?"

Pippi, sadly, had nothing to squee over, but was generally happy with her weekend.

"Pretty good." she answered, "I had a lot of fun. But I'm glad we're done with prom."

"Hey, you got Walter to wax his legs, I'd say you did pretty good." Nadia shrugged. "But it's nice to not have to worry about that, any more. You went with Maia, right?"

"Yeah, she asked me at the pool party... I also got a marriage proposal from Boone..." Which is her second this year. She chewed thoughtfully. "But I think it was the punch."

"That was good punch. Did you and Maia go as friends?"

Nadia would find Pippi a date, even if it wasn't Pip. She was determined. And if Pippi wanted a girl, well. That would just make the list of available people longer.

"Wull, yeah." said Pippi. "We didn't go as enemies..."

Nadia gestured with a chicken wing. "But you could have gone as more than friends. If you liked her as more than a friend, anyway."

Pippi wonders if Nadia has been talking to Walter.

"Is there any way to move this conversation along in a way that doesn't seem like I'm putting Maia down?"

Nadia shrugged. "You could just say you don't like girls, or she's a very good friend, but you don't see her that way, or say she's like a sister to you or . . . ."

Yeah, so Nadia might have heard a lot of that before.

"Yeah. Any of those. Sorry."

Pippi waves her hand.

"Yes, any and all of those." she said.

Nadia raised her eyebrows. "There has to be someone you're interested in, though, right?"

"I dunno." she said, "I don't really know many of the guys at school other then Walter and Pip."

On the one hand, Pippi did not get Walter. On the other, Pip would play exactly into Nadia's devious plot.

"Okay, how about in general? What do you look for in a guy?"

"Entrails?"
