Once again, the class would find the danger shop little more than a large, darkened space, with just the faintest of glowing panel lighting on the edges to mark where the floors and the walls met. Ignis has a small light shining from his lapel to make it easier for himself to be located in that dim light, which distinguished him easily from the other shadowy figures that lurked, silent and still, behind him.

"Today," he started, "we are going to put to use some of the skills we practiced last week, while also adding another element. The training field will have a few open spots of danger; not nearly as many as last week's maze, but they will not be marked as they were last week. There are also four training dummies out there, that are programmed to move as soon as you start the simulation. Our focus today is to hit each of the training dummies, with whatever weapon you choose. For the first part of class, you will run the simulation in low lighting, to get accustomed to the space and the movement of the dummies. Then, toward the end of class, we will remove the lighting entirely and see how you fare in the darkness. The sound cues are also in place, as with last week, so that I may have an idea of when you find yourself on the wrong side of an edge or have successfully hit a dummy."

Here, Ignis gave a faint smile.

"Fairly straightforward," he said, "although doubtless a significant challenge to be considered. Any questions? If not, I'll have you take a moment to stretch, warm up, and choose your weapon before we begin in earnest."

Of course, Ignis believes he's explained the lesson well, but there may be some lingering questions he may not have considered, and he would be more than happy to answer them, or help with any other concerns the students may have.

As mentioned, there are randomized pitfalls in the training space. Navigate through the semi-darkness to avoid those and still manage to strike each of the four targets that are moving around, albeit at a slow and measured (and, after a while, somewhat predictable) manner.

And then, eventually, once you've hopefully familiarized yourself with the terrain, placement, and movement, it's time to see how you fare with the low lighting removed and the room cast in (almost) complete darkness. Ignis will still have his lapel light on to make him easy to locate in case he is needed, and he'll be spending the whole time listening carefully for the various sound cues to alert him to your progress.

It took Guillermo a bit of getting used to the course, especially once their was no light at all. He did manage to make it through without falling off the edge though.

He had picked a crossbow for his weapon and was rather pleased when he finally took out one of the dummies in the dark.

Ignis is there, he's run the course a few times himself before the students showed up, and he (like Motel 6) has left a light on for you.
