Musical Theater! [Friday, Period Two]

Class was meeting in the auditorium again, something about creative juices, which if you asked Cara they'd be more likely to find in a bar.

Which was true, but slightly less academic thsm the auditorium.

"A subject for our great music is one that deserves immense thought behind it," Jaskier said. "It can't just be, say, a collection of poems about cats or something. It had to mean something."

"Or you could just take an already popular story and shove songs in it." Cara, ever the theatre critic.

"I mean, yes. I suppose you could. A historical event. Or perhaps a romance," he added. Putting a lot of spaghetti on the wall there, guys.

"Or the vendetta the gremlins have against the Dean and his family." Why would you put that out in the universe, Cara?

"Oh, now there's an idea!" Jaskier, no.

"I guess that's what we'll use if no one can come up with anything better." Cara, no.

Sakaki wasn't usually one to speak up in a class unless she was called on, but, without much performing or crafting to bring to the table, she felt like she had to contribute something, and, besides, she felt like she had a pretty good idea.

And when she'd suggested the cafe theme for the class fair at her old school, it had gone over pretty well, too.

"Do you think," she ventured, reluctantly, "there could be a musical....about...cats?"

Surely, nothing like that had been done before, right?

"Cats on an adventure?" Belle suggested, only partially joking.

If Shrek the Musical worked then Puss in Boots the Musical could too.

"...what kind of adventure?"

Not that it mattered, it would all be adorable, but they were supposed to be brainstorming, right?

"Could a cat be a knight?" Belle wondered.

A bard was right out. Imagine Jaskier but as a cat? Yikes.

"Or a sorcerer!"

"It could be two cats," Sakaki offered, because two cats was instantly an improvement over one. "One knight, one sorcerer.

"And they're friends," she added, firmly, after a moment.

Girls, this was meant to be a stage show not a cartoon.

Very slowly, a small blush started to blossom across Sakaki's cheeks as she thought about it, and there was a small tremble as she tried to remember what words were.

It was difficult to not allow that level of cuteness overtake her.

"Yes," she finally managed to get out. "And the sorcerer has robes and a gohei. She's a Shinto cat."
