Practical Wilderness Survival- Second Period- Monday

"Well, now that the first class is behind us, it is time to get into the meat of things," Dwight said as he stood before the class again that morning once everyone was gathered in the Danger Shop. "One of the most important things to do if you find yourself lost in the wilderness is to find water. And you have to make sure the water is clean and safe to drink. You can feasibly go weeks with little to no food, but without water, you will be dead in a matter of days." Dwight paused for effect and to drive home the seriousness of this one task. "So today, we are going to focus on how to find, clean, store, and conserve water when lost in the wilderness."

This definitely did seem like something incredibly useful to know, so Libby was paying very close attention to the video, at some points wishing she'd thought to bring a notebook with her so that she could scribble down some notes. She was pretty sure she could do a good job of remembering all the steps, though, and resolved to bring one of those little memo notebooks that could fit in her back pocket with her next time.

See, there were reasons that Beta stayed at base and left all the wandering around the Forbidden West to Aloy. Most of those reasons were very large and machine-animal shaped, but also she didn't have the slightest clue how to fend for herself out in the wilderness. (The person she'd talked to the most at base -- after Varl, anyway -- was Alva, who spent just as much time immersed in her research as Beta did. There hadn't been a whole lot of wilderness survival skills to pick up by association from the other resident nerd of the group.)

So she was watching very intently, but with the occasional grimace of you mean you have to do that?

Alara didn't know if these techniques would still be valid back home but she was paying close attention, thinking that it was definitely something that it would be extremely useful for her to know.

Guillermo was paying as close attention as he could to the video, even though he wasn't sure how well he was going to remember these steps.

Hopefully there wasn't going to be a time when he would need to know how to source his own water.
