An Introduction to Zoology - Friday, 1st Period

It was the second of two classes that Cutter was teaching this semester and it had actually been a while since Cutter had taught a zoology course but in what was perhaps another first, Cutter was also there for his other class so that was two different classes that he had turned up for in a week.

“This is An introduction to Zoology,” he began, “my name is Professor Nick Cutter and I’m an Evolutionary Zoologist, I do normally teach palaeontology but this semester we’ll be focusing more on the general zoology side of things,”

“I’ll keep things simple to start with this week,” he continued, “and we’ll start off with introductions, so I’d like to know your name, any experience you may have with what you’d like to learn in particular from this class and what your favourite animal is,” it had seemed to work for his dinosaurs class so he thought he’d keep it simple for zoology.

Out of all her classes this semester, this one was easily the one Sakaki had been looking forward to the most, and you could tell, because there was a little bit of a thread of excitement in her face rather than her usual stoic expression.

It even translated into her introduction, which was less stilted or nervous than other introductions may have been.

"Hello," she said, with a nod. "My name is Sakaki, and I'm studying to be a veterinarian right now, so a class about zoology would be very helpful with that. I also work at the animal shelter, so I have a lot of experience with a lot of different animals, but my favorite animals are cats. I even have a cat now." And that actually got a rare, albeit smile, out of Sakaki as she just seemed to glow softly at that information. "His name is Maya."

"My name is Kurt Wagner," Kurt said when it was his turn. "I'm from Germany and grew up on a farm in the woods, so I spent more time around animals than people a lot of the time (for that and other probably obvious reasons). I love all animals, but I really like flying squirrels!" He hesitated a moment in thought before continuing. "I think what I want out of this class is just to learn more about animals I already know and to see what other animals are out there to see and learn about!"
