Basic Weaponry; Tuesday, First Period [01/03].
It may be winter outside the school, but inside the Danger Shop, it was a beautiful, clear day, filled with bright blue skies and nice, comfortable temperatures. The class would find themselves out on a broad, open field, surrounded by forests, with a castle on a hill (it was only a model) looming in the distance. A training area was set up, with a variety of different posts and target dummies in a space marked with colorful banners, and, where your two teacher stood waiting, there were also racks and tables of (fully moddable) weapons waiting to be explored.
Amaya, of course, was the one to get things started, giving the students a nod once they had gathered.
"Morning, everyone," she said, "and welcome to Basic Weaponry. I'm Amaya Blackstone, local blacksmith, and this here's Rosa Diaz, local private eye. Together, we've been doing a course on weapons on and off for years here at the school, so you're in good hands if you're hoping to learn a thing or two about all weapons sharp and pointy, blunt and heavy, quick and speedy, or slow and crushing. Typically our lessons are going to be pretty straight forward: we spend the first part of the class learning about the weapon itself--that's my part of the deal--and then the second part of the class is spent learning how to effectively use that weapon--that's where Diaz comes in. By the time we're through, you should hopefully have a good, comprehensive overview of what you like, what you don't, and what you might want to use more of.
"Today, however," she continued, "is a bit different, as it's the first class. And tradition dictates, that first class is good for introductions. We like to do ours just a bit different, though. Behind us here, you'll see a wide plethora of various weapons. We'd like you all to take some time, give it a look, and find a weapon that either you're already familiar with, that you'd like to learn more about, that speaks to you in some way, shape or form....whatever it is, pick out a weapon, and, once everyone's made a choice, we'll go around, have you state your name, share a little something about yourself if you like, and then take a moment to explain why you picked that weapon. I've always believed you could tell a lot about a person, based on what kind of weapon they were packing, and so that's what we're going to do.
"Besides," she added with a bit of a grin, "once that's over..." She gestured toward the training area, "you'll get to use the rest of the class getting to use 'em, too! And with that..."
She stepped aside and gestured toward the racks and tables.
"Choose your weapon!"

Amaya has chosen a hammer, because, while she appreciates a little bit of finesse and style when applicable, you really can't go wrong with just being able to hit something hard enough and call it good.
Rosa, meanwhile, has an axe, and offers up her first words for the class so far: "It's versatile. Useful. Every woman should have one."
Apparently, that was all you needed to know about Rosa Diaz.
So what should they know about you and your choices?

The rest was completely drowned in a clatter, as the rack he had pulled the weapon from finally finished unknowingly listing precariously backwards and went crashing down. Cue a small bit of chaos and action in getting it back up again, and he laughed sheepishly.
"Sorry about that," he said. "Anyway, I chose a bow!" He lifted it up proudly. "Because I'm a straight shooter with a lot of range and a piercing intellect! Sometimrs, I might be a little tightly strung, but with the right aim, I'm sure to hit my target!"
Yes, he was far too proud of all of that, if the little preening pose at the end was any indication.
"You might even say," he added, for good measure, "I can be quite...fletching!"

...that she was holding it like it might burn her was irrelevant, shh.
"Um," she ventured softly, her head ducked halfway and her eyes darting nervously around. "I'm Beta, and I'm not really a fighter."
Like, at all. Look at her. She clearly did not have Aloy's physique.
"But -- but I do know people who are, and I mostly signed up for this so I could help them take care of their weapons. Not really use them myself. I'm... a liability in a fight."
She thought of Varl, trying to protect her from Erik Visser and getting killed for it.
No, no, shake that off, no time for thinking about that now.
"Don't have the training necessary for close quarters or the upper body strength for a bow. Just need to keep some distance, long enough so I can get away." Or so someone else could bail her out, but saying so felt awful. She looked at the spear in her hand, just a simple unadorned thing, not like the ones Aloy and Varl and the others back at base used. "It's a contingency."

Other than that, it's a good chance to just spend the rest of your time getting out there and hitting things, and who wouldn't love something like that?

On the other hand, it's the danger shop, though, so you should be fine.
