Student Council [lunch]

"Prom's on Saturday," Josh said, smiling. "Do we need to start giving the junior class planners oxygen yet?"

He linked his hands behind his head. "Professors Tick, Harrington, and Camulus have agreed to help me chaperone." He pointed at Alanna, Parker, and Elizabeth. "Want to give us an update on what we should be expecting? Or any help you need?"

He spun in his chair. "Anything else we need to discuss? The coffee for finals thing seems to be taken care of. And another game night's in the works, right?"

"There was a really nice welcome party when I first came here. I was wondering if we should do something similar when the new students arrive for the summer," Isabel said. "Since the weather's nice, maybe something on the beach?"

"That would be cool," Parker agreed. "When's the new semester start? The twenty-second?"

"Make sure there's no vamps with the newbies if it's a daytime party," Angel reminded them.

"Good point," Isabel nodded. "Which means we start in the afternoon and continue on into the night with a bonfire. We wouldn't want to leave anyone out."

"Perfect compromise," Angel said. He scribbled down a note and secretly passed it to Isabel.

Radio. Said ELIZABETH. Stake me now.

Isabel patted her pockets and then held up her empty hands with a shrug. Then she slipped a note back.

I heard. Why Elizabeth? Why not who we talked about?

The note came back.

Because God hates me, that's why.

Not an answer. Explain.

Angel tossed a pouty look in her direction.

Is so an answer!

But Prof. Lyman would be the other half of that answer.

Isabel raised an eyebrow.

What is this? Jeopardy? I need to come up with a question? How about this? Why would Prof. Lyman think you have a crush on Elizabeth instead of Logan?

Angel snickered.

Because I asked to get out of working with Logan's group due to personal issues. He guessed crush on Liz. I didn't say no.

Isn't that just complicating things though?

Not if I want to keep you-know-who from finding out.

Don't you think he's going to ask why you're not working with him anymore? And what if he asks about Liz?

Angel gave her a look like, geez, Isabel, write the name out at that point why dontcha?

I have a deep faith in him being too much of a slacker to do any of that.

Not that Angel's note was better.

Isabel flailed a bit at Angel's look.

You hope. What did Cal have to say about the radio? Does Liz need to go into hiding?

Parker cocked her head. "Valid point. Maybe a bonfire in the evening, then-- the Freshmen had fun with that back in January, we can start the party early, and any sunlight-avoidant types can show up a little later." She paused. "There should be a going-away party for you guys, too." Damnit. Pout.

"You're just looking for the excuse to hug me. Admit it."

"Pffttttt. So not. I'm looking for an excuse to dump a punch bowl on you."

"I'll be sure not to wear white," Angel said, making a note of it.

"Or leather." Parker grinned. "Right, so, maybe a dinner thing, in the park in the evening, a picnic, maybe, to say good-bye to the seniors? For after the Graduation ceremony?"

"Picnic sounds nice," Angel said. "Could be a graduation celebration even for the folks who aren't leaving town."

"That works. Maybe we can get the local eateries to cater it for less, and ... hmm. Fireworks? Since some of you won't be here for 4th of July."

"I'm always a fan of a big ka-boom," Angel said.

"Oh fireworks!" Pippi said.

"I can help with that!"
