"Today kids, we'll be painting backdrops and decorations for prom. The theme is Lost Cities and I have a list for you to work from. There's pictures and other information in each backdrop's area."

Angel's all over this one. You'd think he was almost trying to get the volcano to come to life, possibly to swallow him whole.

You'd be silly. He was only hoping to be spontaneously burned alive.

Xander tilted his head and paused on his way over to Camelotshutup. "That's very...burninatey."

"Is Bridge a demon?" Angel asked, because to him there was a segue there, really.

"Not that I can tell," Xander answered, because like he hadn't considered this possibility?

Angel facepalmed. "Because it'd explain a lot."

"...liiiiiiiike?" Xander asked cautiously. "Besides the me-factor, obviously."

"Well the you-factor's a good 80% there, you gotta admit," Angel pointed out.

"Possibly, but I find myself bizarrely fascinated by the 20% why-you-care factor."

"Just never tell me what you did to get him to say that on the radio," Angel said. Because, again, to his mind this all made sense.

Xander scratched his head. "To say what on the radio?" Because somebody made a left turn at Albequerque. It might be Xander; you never know.

"Don't play innocent."

"You're give me way too much credit for knowing what the hell you're talking about at any given time, dude."

Xander rewound the radio broadcast in his head for anything to do with Angel. It wasn't like he hadn't been paying attention, after all; he'd just mostly been focused on WTFCallynanders, by the end of it. Angel and Callisto waking up together wasn't exactly WTF-worthy, though why it was news Xander wasn't sure. And he couldn't possibly care about a detention mention, so...

"Wait, that thing about Professor Lyman having a crush on Liz?"

"No, the thing about - "

Angel paused. Rewound.

"Yes, the thing about Prof. Lyman having a crush on Liz."

Xander shrugged. "Not real sure how that got in the radio notes, but again I'm back at why do you care? Not like it's your crush that got spilled. Not even you would be stupid enough to admit to liking somebody else while you're dating Ninja Vin Diesel of the Burnination Brigade. Besides, Elizabeth's so not your type."

Angel facepalmed. "Type doesn't matter as much as you'd think," he muttered, possibly too low for a mortal to hear.

Well, possibly. But Xander pointed ... vaguely towards Camelot, so possibly not.

"Uh...yeah, not unaware of that. Still doesn't explain why you care who Professor Lyman crushes on, though."

"Doesn't explain why your boyfriend cares who I crush on either," Angel threw back at him, totally forgetting that this instantly undercut what tenuous hold he'd had on getting out of this conversation unscathed.

Angela leaned over and tapped Angel on the shoulder. "How would you feel about possibly doing me a favor?"

Angel looked curious. "Depends on what kind, I guess. What's up?"

"Because John Crichton might be prom prince? It could be kind of funny to put pictures of the animals Skeeter has turned him into in some of the backdrops for prom. Kind of like a subliminal message. And you could actually draw animals that look like animals."

She bit her lip. "It might be a dopey idea."

"Nah, we could do that," Angel said. "Though scarily I can't even remember all the things he's turned into. At this point would any animal count as him?"

"Probably it could just be any animal," Angela said. "Rory'd know, but I'm not sure if she's already on her way to Connecticut or what."

"You just need to make sure and get the zebra. And the sea horse. Oh, and that freaky aye-aye thing."

"Can do," Angel said, starting to sketch in a sea horse amongst the lava. "It can be like a scavenger hunt. See if you can spot the picture of John in each set."

Angela tossed off a salute before going back to her own painting. "Thanks."
