Beginner's Guide to Heroism, Wednesday - 2nd Period

"Welcome back," Jane said, once the class had filed on into the Danger Shop. Where she'd definitely spent a good hour, fiddling to learn how it all worked. "Today we'll be talking about powers. Which not everyone has, but that's just fine as well!"

Was that last part added quickly? Yes.

"Now, powers could also mean what skills you have too. And today I'd like you to showcase what you think can make you heroic beyond the will to do good. Which can be pretty heroic on its own, but sometimes needs that little nudge, you know?"

Like, say, life altering events or broken magic hammers coming back together just for you

Oh, Graham had this ready to go, right out the gate. You didn't aspire to be a Knight of Daventry without having your resume and CV ready to go at a moment's notice!

"I can bring to the table," he offered, "talking with animals and other light magic, a mighty steed that is both fast and cunning, bravery, wisdom, compassion, costuming, and significant storage solutions! I can also hit things, in a pinch, but I generally don't like to if I can avoid it."

"I don't really know, I'm supposed to have some kind of fighting powers - I haven't unlocked them yet," Guillermo admitted, shifting rather awkwardly since he was still trying to get used to the idea that somehow he could be a good fighter, "er ..." he tried to think of something else, "I can cook and I know a lot about vampires?" he offered.

They were the only skills he could think of.

Kurt gave a small awkward wave when it was his turn to talk. He HATED talking and sounding like he was bragging about himself.

"Ummm well, thanks to the X-Gene and being a Mutant there's a number of abilities, traits, and powers that I ended up with," Kurt said, seeing as it was quite apparent there was a lot that made him sort of stick out in a crowd.

Did Kurt mention he HATED talking about himself in this sort of setting?

Was TJ entirely resigned to having another version of her dad in class with her? No.

Did that mean she was going to put up with him not admitting he was awesome? Hell no.

She reached out and kicked his chair, hissing in his direction, "Tell her your powers!"

"Oh, ummm..." Kurt rubbed the back of his head and looked at TJ and then to their instructor. "I can teleport. And... I have really good balance and agility" Kurt added with a small grin.

"I punch stuff real good," Vi said, far too lightly.

"Uh, well, I can fly," Gray said. "And I'm really strong. And I can heal from almost anything. And I can heal other people, too, as long as it's not something really major. And I'm really sneaky." Did telling other people negate the sneakiness? Maybe, but he was really good at it.

"...I think that's about it." Because he wasn't about to mention his Sloth power. He didn't do that any more, anyway.

"Erm," Clare said. "I'm good under pressure?"

Untrue.

"And I'm an excellent study partner!"

Also mostly untrue.

"I've had intensive training in computer systems and engineering," offered Beta.

She was just going to leave the clone thing out of it.

"I'm really fast and flexible," TJ said, grinning. "Also I can fire hex bolts. They're explosive. And I can possess someone, but that's more a 'takes hours, lasts hours' kind of thing, so less in a fight."

Let's see what you've got!

Kurt rubbed the back of his head nervously. There was really only one ability he had that was really easy to show off and that would likely be the best suited for combat. He loved teleporting though so he tried to push the nerves down.

"One of the abilities I am learning to improve and perfect is teleporting. Right now I can go a fair distance but I have to either see where I am porting to or it has to be a place I am very familiar with. Otherwise, I could end up porting into a wall or something. But I am working at getting better with the distance and all."

And with a slow, deep breath, Kurt looked across the room and then, disappeared from sight in a poof of purple and black smoke. He reappeared on the other side of the room, gave a wave to Jane, and then ported back over to where he started and gave a small, somewhat awkward grin.

"Practice makes perfect," Jane said with am encouraging nod. "So long as there isn't property damage involved."

Look, those doors in New Asgard had it coming.

"Ah yeah... I've fallen through a few railing and such cuz I miss judged the timing and all. But so far, its been mostly my body taking the brunt of the mess-ups," Kurt admitted, thinking back to that early attempt the visit to the clinic to see Libby what seemed like so long ago. "But it's getting easier!"

"Well, you can use this time for practice then," Jane said. "There's safety protocols, thank god."

She didn't need to talk to the Moose.

Gray started taking off his shirt like that was a normal thing to do in the middle of class.

"Okay, the family resemblance is there now," Jane said, just being glad he didn't fall asleep for it.

"Huh?" Gray asked, confused. The only ones of his brothers he looked much like were Bellamy and Alastair, and that was more shared coloring than anything else.

He took his wings out, which hopefully explained the need to ditch his shirt. "I can't fly without these," he explained a little sheepishly.

It was really more a shared vibe there, Gray. With the shirtlessness.

"Oh! Raiden mentioned those!" Angel wings up in this bitch.

Gray's wings were, like any Nephilim's, black, with light blue ~accent feathers~ scattered here and there, because signature colors were a thing that came with a deadly sin, go figure.

"Uh, if I take off there's gonna be a downdraft," he warned, because enclosed space. "Hold on to any papers or whatever."

No, no. It needed more details like the ridiculous supernatural gay romance it was, damn it. Dappled in blue light.

"Oh, yeah, the force you'd need to fly--" Jane, no.

Sadly, these books were a bit thin on details. Unless you wanted way too much information on how sensitive the slits the wings came from were...

"I think that's more magic than physics," Gray admitted. "I can fly carrying more than my body weight. But yeah, there's quite a bit of air displaced." With the flapping.

"Got anything I can blow up?" TJ asked. She didn't want to assume.

Who was still trying to figure out all the things she could do too.

Why, headache? Why?
