Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

Despite the fact that this picnic was celebrating the new fall semester, it was still technically summer, and the weather was making that clear. It was sunny, with not a cloud in the sky, and the temperature was seasonably toasty.

With not a minute to spare, the food was ready, the tables and chairs had been spread across the lawn with just the right amount of glitter on them, and everything was ready to welcome a new batch of folks to the island!

"Well, it's 2022 here, for a start," Lana said. "You wouldn't be the first person out of time, though, and I'm from an entirely different galaxy that doesn't even use the same calendar. You'll find all sorts of people from different places here."

“Well I did want a change of scenery,” Cutter said dryly, “I suppose i can’t complain too much about Fandom being different,”

Lana laughed. "It is definitely that. Right. So, does your London have magic, aliens, people with powers, or other non-human sentients?"

“Nothing like that,” Cutter told her with an amused grin, “aside from spending the last year trying to stop dinosaurs escaping from the past into the country,”

Somewhere both Lester and Jenny were facepalming.

"Oh, interesting," Lana said. "I've never seen a dinosaur before. Well, except in museums, of course. How did they get from the past to now?"

“Portals called anomalies started to appear that were links to the past, we thought they were a recent phenomenon but my …” Cutter stopped for a moment, “my ex wife left me eight and a half years ago when she discovered the anomalies, she came back when the anomalies got more frequent,” he paused, “actually I don’t know if you’ve met him Connor …he’s the one who I know back home, he works at the museum? He has Rex …he came from our first experience with the anomalies, he’s from the Pervian Period,”

"I don't think so," Lana said. "So, naturally occurring portals, then. Well, if you're familiar with those, you shouldn't be too thrown by some of Fandom's oddities. There are quite a few, though."

She took out her phone and called up a document. "I've documented the most common occurrences and things you might want to do to prepare. If you have a phone, I can send this to you."

Hey, she was a nerd. She was prepared.

Cutter glanced down and took out his very basic flip phone, “I do have one but I think it might need an upgrade,” he admitted, “maybe sending it as an email would be best, I think that would be useful to have,”

"Yes, that might be a good idea," Lana agreed. "I have my comm from home and my phone here. They connect well. Turtle & Canary will have phones, and if you go there when Summer's working, she'll likely be more than happy to teach you."

For now, she added her document to an email message and handed him her phone. "There you are. Send it to yourself, and then I'll have your address as well."
