Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day
Despite the fact that this picnic was celebrating the new fall semester, it was still technically summer, and the weather was making that clear. It was sunny, with not a cloud in the sky, and the temperature was seasonably toasty.
With not a minute to spare, the food was ready, the tables and chairs had been spread across the lawn with just the right amount of glitter on them, and everything was ready to welcome a new batch of folks to the island!

Not that that had ever happened to Raiden. He never forgot food. Gray, on the other hand, was a menace.
Raiden gave Watts a sort of up-nod in response and said, "How's it going?" around the cookie dangling out of his mouth. So more like 'Ow'f if gawn?'
Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
"Didn't catch that," he squinted at Raiden, attempting to decipher what he'd said.

"Well enough, I suppose," Watts said. Which was the truth in that things were better than they had been this morning. "You're new." This is why he was a detective.
Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
Surnames were for suckers.
Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
"Detective Watts." Because he very much preferred being addressed by his surname. Or his title. "Is it- how are you finding it here, so far?" See! He could small talk! Like a normal person!

You know. Back when people wore pocket watches on the daily.
The pretzel wouldn't have lasted very long on his person, anyway.
"Detective Watts," Raiden said, because he wasn't sure when someone introduced themselves that way if it was more polite to use just their job title or their surname. "I am impressed."

Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
Oooh, a pretzel would be so good right now. With mustard. And a beer.
Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
(Somewhere, Steven was facepalming at him for considering a pretzel a meal.)

Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
"Better than nothing, particularly if I'm spending my time at a crime scene."
Didn't stop him from nibbling on any food that was at a crime scene, of course. Including at least one that had involved a poisoning. But that had been of the wine, not the canapés.
Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
He did judge other things. "You--you need more than just a pretzel if you're spending hours investigating crimes. You need...protein, and vegetables. At least cheese."
Pizza. You needed pizza, Watts.
Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
He did not need literal pizza pockets, Raiden, c'mon.
