Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

Despite the fact that this picnic was celebrating the new fall semester, it was still technically summer, and the weather was making that clear. It was sunny, with not a cloud in the sky, and the temperature was seasonably toasty.

With not a minute to spare, the food was ready, the tables and chairs had been spread across the lawn with just the right amount of glitter on them, and everything was ready to welcome a new batch of folks to the island!

Billy couldn't hold back a small laugh at the thought of him being a student.

"Definitely not a student. I work in town... not exactly willingly... at the Surf Shop."

"Are there enough waves here to surf?" Charlie asked. "I never have, but it always looks amazing in movies."

"We don't get the big ones, no" Billy said. "Not like we had in Mexico that's for sure. But you can body surf and windsurf. And the shop has a holosuit so that's nice for programming whatever setting you want."

"A holosuit?" Now there was something Charlie hadn't heard of. Not outside of sci-fi shows.

"Aye, one of the benefits of living in a place like this," Billy said with a general handwave around. "Lots of tech and things from lots of different places evidently. Turns out the shop has a holosuit that can be programed for just about any beach, ocean, or water setting you could want."

He gave a soft chuckle.

"Came in handy when I first came here. Was winter so not exactly a lot of business for a surf shop." There still was crap for business really, but Billy wasn't about to bring that point up in this conversation.

"Ohhhhh..." Charlie let out a long dreamy sigh. "I might just have to look this place up!"

"Not hard to find. On the beach, near Galactica Point. Not too far from the park on the east side of the island" Billy said simply.

"I have no idea where any of that is, but I assure you, I will find out!" Charlie promised.

"Pretty sure the school hands out maps on the first day," he offered helpfully.

And was he really that desperate for people to actually come by the shop he was entertaining the idea of making it easy for students to find him? Guess he was!

"I'm not always such a map person," Charlie said. "I mean, they're handy, but there's something to be said for just exploring. And it's a small island."

"Yeah kinda hard to get too lost around here" Billy said with a nod. "Small town and small island. Too small sometimes. Makes me miss Cancun at times."

"I've never been," Charlie said. "Is it wonderful there? Warm sun, sandy beach..."

"Beaches are amazing" Billy confirmed with a nod. "Crowded though. Lots and lots of people and.... everything that comes with that."

"I don't mind lots of people," Charlie said. "Not if I'm on the beach."

"Well I'm sure I can program something into the holosuit if you get homesick for a big crowded beach" Billy said with a crooked smirk. Different strokes for different folks and all that he guessed.

"Nah, people are only fun if they're really there," Charlie said. "No point in having them if you can't have fun with them."

"Yeah, more fun to interact with the dolphins, sharks, and fish anyways," Billy agreed.

"Have you done that?" Charlie asked with a gasp. "That sounds wonderful."

Her powers were land-based, but she could still enjoy the water.

"Oh yeah, lots of times. Swam with sharks several times. No cages. Not great whites or anything but still- sharks. And there always dolphin pods around the beaches in the summertime."

"Wow... I really envy you that." Charlie said admiringly. "It must have been amazing."
