Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

Despite the fact that this picnic was celebrating the new fall semester, it was still technically summer, and the weather was making that clear. It was sunny, with not a cloud in the sky, and the temperature was seasonably toasty.

With not a minute to spare, the food was ready, the tables and chairs had been spread across the lawn with just the right amount of glitter on them, and everything was ready to welcome a new batch of folks to the island!

Buck was just so confused. More confused than usual.

"Buck," he said. "Nice to meet you?"

Was it? He was just going to go with the polite answer.

"Nice to meet you as well, Buck," she said. "So we've pretty much established that you're not a student here, so what all is it that you actually do?"

"Firefighter," he replied. "And by that I mean I just hang out at the fire house and do nothing."

At least he had accepted that by now.

"Firefighter," she said thoughtfully. "Who doesn't fight fires. I assume you can fight fires if you need to? Potentially with other handsome firefighters?"

Was that look in the eye Charlie considering whether setting a couple of fires might get her a bonus of handsome fire fighters? Hmmm...

"Really? Tell me more!" She placed her chin on her folded hands briefly. "I must know all about... this island."

"I don't think it's appropriate for me to go on about myself and Eddie." Which came out differently than he meant but whatever. "And don't you guys have some kind of welcome program for new kids?"

She smiled at him. "I think we're both in the middle of it, aren't we? A Welcome Picnic with food and mingling. That must be why you're here, right?"

"Nah, I already know how the island works, I'm just here for the free food." And to be of use in case a fire breaks out.

"Yes, and what a supply of food there is," Charlie said, taking a minute to gaze at all the food covering the tables. "It is pretty impressive."
