Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day
Despite the fact that this picnic was celebrating the new fall semester, it was still technically summer, and the weather was making that clear. It was sunny, with not a cloud in the sky, and the temperature was seasonably toasty.
With not a minute to spare, the food was ready, the tables and chairs had been spread across the lawn with just the right amount of glitter on them, and everything was ready to welcome a new batch of folks to the island!

Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
She listened intently. "Radio... And the squirrels..."
Charlie looked around and waved at a squirrel perched on a branch, "Make sure you mention how good the purple hair looks, if you would, squirrel friend."
She turned back to Graham. "This is turning out to be even more amazing and mind-bending than I'd thought. And I will definitely listen for you on Fridays."
Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
"But you make pies?" Of course he was going to still circle around to that. "I love pies! My friend Guillermo said he's going to make me some, probably for Friday, which is when we have our DnD game over at the ~Maaaaagpie Empooor~rium~! I work there! That's on Fridays, too. Fridays are a pretty big day for me, around here." He nodded with a certain sense of importance there. "But his pies aren't charmed. At least, I don't think they are, although I guess they would be, because he's pretty charming himself! But what kind of charms? Do they make you float? Can they turn you into a bird? Will they give you the power to turn invisible?? Are they made of FEAR???"
The slow progression of speed in which those questions tumbled out of him excitedly definitely warranted the excited extra use of punctuation and capital letters by the end.
Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
She smiled at Graham. "No birds or floating or invisibility," she said, "though those would be cool. Potentially charms of fear, if the Aunties are annoyed with you, but mostly they're things like, 'remember to wear clean underwear', or 'call your mother every day' or the ever popular, 'don't embarrass us, Charlotte Marie Gale!' and stuff like that."
Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
He said probably, though, in light of Charlie's description of her attempts at cooking.

She grinned at him a little conspiratorially.
Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
He then nodded, firmly and knowingly, with a slightly more exaggerated than strictly necessary wink thrown in, too.
"Of course! Accidentally! Hopefully, people will be sure to proceed with caution around any particular pies of unknown origin, especially if they'd done anything particularly deserving."
Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
He was adorable! Charlie was going to be so happy here.
Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
(It wouldn't, actually, not even a little).
"That sounds like something someone who'd want me to have a charmed pie would say! But I guess I'll have to just take your word for it."
(He would, absolutely and completely).
Re: General Mingling [Fall 22]
He could trust her. A lot.
But this did not entirely rule out the occasional prank. Leopard and spots and all that.
