"Well, everyone," said Amaya, with a nod, once it was time to get class started...and, subsequently, finished, for the semester, "today's our last class, so we'll be going over the three finishing steps of armor work, which is joining, polishing, and finishing. They're relatively simple concepts, so it shouldn't take too much time, and then it's pretty much your time to do what you need to do to get your pieces close to finished. Making a piece of armor's a bit more involve, in general, than the daggers we would have been making in a weapons-focused class, so if you find yourself still without much of a piece by the end of the class, don't worry about it too much. If you're set on finishing, you can always swing by and work on it here at the forge, I certainly don't mind, but, even if you don't, at least you'll be walking away from here with a few new techniques under your belt, whether you decide to pursue it further or not.

"Of course, any lingering questions you might have about the processes, the techniques, or even blacksmithing as a career or an art, I'll be happy to field those, too, but first, let's take a look at what's typically needed in the last stages, although, really, they're fairly self-explanatory by the name, so you probably know what's about to come up next."

And, like Amaya said, the last three techniques really are self-explanatory. Joining, she went on to explain, is basically joining your pieces together, if your piece required that sort of things, like with a breastplate or a gauntlet, either by welding them together or the delicate application of joints or clasps for things that either needed to be flexible or fitted on. Polishing was...well, that was just making it nice and shiny, and there were various ways to go about that, and, really, the important part about polishing came after the fact, in making sure that the armor stayed good and strong, just like how it was always good to polish your swords, too (not dirty). And finishing was just taking care of all the little imperfections and awkward bits and sharper edges by grinding things down, a process that's a bit slower with more traditional methods, but, since it's the last class, there was definitely an appearance of some power tools to do the job...and the trust that this lot, at least, would know how to use them appropriately.

And, just like last week, all the techniques should, for the most part, be in place, so the shop is yours to use as you feel is needed to finish up your projects, ask questions if you've got 'em, or at least make a little more progress and/or decide that, you know what? You were definitely going for a somewhat shaped hunk of metal all along, really!

Stark was not going to finish his attempt at a mask today but he was making some progress at least. He'd need more time, especially after missing a week due to being a koala.

Irene was actually fairly proud of the helmet she'd managed to construct over the last several weeks, even if it did still need some finishing touches -- today, she was focused on the polish, which was more than a little rewarding after spending all that time beating the damn thing into shape, and she could already see that she'd need to go back over it again.

Which might mean, if she ran out of class time, that she'd just have to bring it in to the forge on her own time. Oh noooooooo.

Jon had...a piece. Of something. Look, his smithing wasn't all that great, okay?

He could definitely polish and finish, though. Small movements and being a perfectionist he could manage. He would have the most well-polished and imperfection-free piece of half-shaped metal ever!

Amaya's definitely there should you need her! It is her shop, after all, she's almost always there, actually.
