Blacksmith Basics: Armor Edition; Thursday, Second Period [08/11].

"Sorry about last week," Amaya started with the apology straight out the gate that morning for the class, with a nod, "but, well...I was a rabbit at the time, can't really help that. And while that unfortunately means we lost a good solid class period of work time, at least we've, fortunately, managed to get through all the basic techniques. All except for the finishing moves, like joining and polishing, which we'll save for the last class.

"So that means today's mostly work. You've got the tools, you've got the materials, you should have a grasp on the basic techniques, so let's work toward getting our pieces hammered out, shaped, and tempered so we'll have something to be finished next week. As always, remember it's a shared space, but there's plenty of worktables to go around, go ahead and ask questions if there's anything you'd like to go over again or are unsure about, and we'll just get started."

It wasn't exactly perfect, but Rosa had, at this point, definitely gotten the shape of her That Time I Thought I Was Dead, But I Still Had To Go To Work helmet down pretty good, so she was mostly working on getting the spot where she had to fit in the visor cut out from the metal.

Which was as good an excuse as any to use a power saw.

Yes, she brought hers from home. And anyone (*cough*Blackstone*cough*) wanted to tell her it was cheating, may she remind you, she had a power saw.

Irene was a little annoyed she'd never thought to bring anything from home like Rosa had -- she had a cordless dremel that she was at least reasonably sure might have managed a little bit of filigree along the edges of the helmet she'd been meticulously working on for weeks. (Probably not, as she didn't actually have a bit that would suit metal, but the point is she might have tried.)

In any case, she was working very carefully on shaping the nose guard to ensure that the edges didn't catch her unawares one day. (Since she was, of course, going to regularly wear this helmet, you know. All the time. Around the flat.)

Stark had missed two weeks of work due to animal transformations (his own and then Amaya's) and set right to work today. The mask, or what would hopefully be a mask, was roughly the correct size but the curves were all wrong and needed work so it would actually fit his face. At least he hoped it would fit his face.

Jon was...still noodle-armed. But he had a lot of angst and aggression to work out, so he was hitting his piece with as much fervor and strength as he could manage.

Whether it was enough to do anything was another question.

Kurt was quite happy with the progress he was making... it wasnt perfect by any means, but he felt it was a good effort for a first time attempt! He was having mixed feelings about showing it off to any of the team though.... he'd have to give that part of things a little more thought!
