Treasure! [Monday, Period One]

Today the workshop was being held in the Library, and while last week Aphra had had the vaguely annoyed air about her, this week it was Isabela.

"Today we're doing research," she said, in a deceptively light and airy tone. "Both because it's what we had planned for last week, and because some of you couldn't recognise treasure if it was right in front of you." But not you, Belle, you were doing great.

Aphra, for once, wasn't going to touch that last part. "Anyway, libraries are great, even if this one being full of actual, physical books is pretty retro," she said. "And doing research is like its own treasure hunt but for knowledge." Hope you enjoyed hearing a grown woman wax rhapsodic on shelving systems, guys.

"Anyway, your task today is to find a book on a subject you really treasure."

How does Aphra even know what a card catalogue was?

Steph shot Isabela a full-on glare and briefly considered getting up and walking out right there, except that she didn't feel like giving people a reason to ask questions, or give Isabela the satisfaction.

Or feel called out by certain of your teachers.

Graham had wanted to properly research for treasure that morning, truly, he had! But you had to understand, he'd been a king this weekend! A buff king! With a successful kingdom and storied history of successful adventures and an actual queen and heirs on the way?? You couldn't just shake that off the next morning!

So even though Graham started his quest for research in earnest, it truthfully did sort of just become a situation where he was wandering the shelves with a far-distant, mystified expression on his face, sometimes occasionally stopping to let out an awe-struck "Zounds!" or "King! King of Daventry!" to no one in particular.

He was probably going to be like this for a while.

You didn't want to know what kind of emo lyrics Steph had been writing all weekend while she was busy brooding (on her front porch, or in the store, or up at the lighthouse), but suffice to say she'd completely missed out on anything that was going on. It was just as well; that probably would have given her more to be moody about anyway.

She'd wandered over to the music section and was very listlessly wandering through the stacks, running a finger along the spines of the books without really paying attention to their titles.

Belle had had a very strange couple of days and at least the library was a refuge, usually. Though someone did often visit her here, but she was trying not to follow that line of thinking.

She was just going to wander the stacks for now. Not thinking. Certainly not remembering anything. Heaven forbid.
