Another week, another day in the Arena, this time set up with a multitude of various structures and obstacles of a boxy and moddable nature spread throughout, with two tall turrets at one end with a large mounted gun on each of them.

"Today's event," Rosa explained, "is Assault, the game of Hit or Be Hit. On top of each of the turrets, you'll see a target. Your goal is to hit those targets; there are various ~~moddable~~ projectile weapons," things like crossbows, rocket launchers, hand grenades, a glitter stick that just shot glitter and that was it, "scattered throughout the course for you to find, but while you're trying to get to them, two of your fellow Gladiators -- that'll be me and Annie for winning last week's game -- will be shooting tennis balls out of air cannons at you. Also, this was originally a one-on-one game, but that's not as much," chaos, "fun. We're doing a free-for-all, so you could very well experience a ground assault from your fellow players as well, and we've definitely made the arena larger and with more obstacles to compensate for that, too.

"Whoever gets the most targets by the end of class wins. Simple, right? Annie, get your gun. Everyone else, find a spot on the opposite side and wait for my mark to begin."

Gear up, warm up, psych your fellow Gladiators out, ask questions if you've got 'em.

Complain if you've got that, too, but you basically get to run around shooting at each other (oh, and the targets, you're supposed to be shooting at the targets), so what is there even to complain about?

It's like free-for-all paintball but with slightly harder missiles and power-loaded tennis-ball snipers! There are also a wide variety of completely moddable shooting weapons (everything from Nerf guns to slingshots to glitter grenades) scattered around to find.

And also don't forget, you're trying to hit the targets, not just each other.

Unless you're Rosa or Annie up in the turrets, of course.

Please make this as messy as you'd like, you're all in it together, and it's literally all you're doing this whole class period. 60 seconds? SCREW THAT.

But in the end, the RNG has declared Sloth the winner with the most target hits, followed by Five, Diego, Sniper, Cap, Tightpants, Devil Dog, Cocker, and Nexu.

Steve was making it his goal to try out all of the different weapons.

His favorite so far was the rocket launcher. He could hear Danny ranting about it in his head and that just made it better.

Steve had made the mistake of detonating a glitter grenade early on and so now he was dripping glitter as he went around the course, making him decidedly un-stealthy.

Glitter also happened to be excellent at marking an easy target, and Rosa had absolutely no qualms against using that particular sparkliness to her advantage behind the tennis ball cannon.

She knew those glitter grenades were a good idea.

And her gladiator name wasn't the Exterminator for nothing.

"Dang it," Steve muttered, waving at Rosa.

Billy was somewhat thankful for those weeks and months of jungle training and gruella fight training from years ago. He was trying to put it to good use and hide out for a bit to get a feel for where his fellow players were going, and to scout out any weaknesses up at the canon post with Annie and Rosa.

Gray wasn't that great with ranged weapons, honestly, but you know what he was great at? Stealth. So he'd be sneaking around the arena, trying to avoid notice and stay behind cover, and taking his shots where he could.

Miguel would swear that Rosa was specifically aiming at him more than the others.

Whether it was true or not.

Maybe once she's actually not behind a massive tennis ball cannon.
