"Good afternoon," Hannibal greeted them all when they arrived at Portalocity. "We're heading to Morocco today. It's in Africa, the continent south of the one we last went to, at the northern end."

He led them through the portal and into a bustling street surrounded by stalls. "Marrakech, Morocco," he explained. "Morocco has been a hub of trade for centuries, and its spices and cuisine reflect that. Mediterranean and Arabic cuisines are the strongest influences, and olive oil, fruits, grains, and a number of meats, including lamb, are common."

He led them further down the street. "Today we will be eating at Dar Cherifa, a restaurant meant as a calm oasis in the midst of the souks - the markets. It features a fairly traditional and varied menu. I will order a number of things for us, and you're welcome to order your own as well."

He nodded at the waiter as they were led to their table. "The predominant languages here are Arabic and Berber, but most people will also speak French, and some will know Spanish or English. Please don't hesitate to ask should you have any questions."

"Were you hoping that he would?" Hannibal asked. "In your guilt, you seem to be asking others to judge you. Are you disappointed we do not?"

Liz was quiet for a moment, “I …I wouldn’t have blamed him, I mean I - I did confess to murder and arson to the sheriff,” she bit her lip, “I …I would deserve it, the judgement I mean …I …I got it back home all the time,”

"You would not deserve it," Hannibal said firmly. "None of what you have done has been intentional. When you have control and choose to harm others, you can accept the judgment of others if you like," though notably not him, "but until then, you should make an effort not to seek out judgment that would put you in harm's way."

Liz was quiet as she considered, still feeling the familiar surges of guilt when she thought about her past, she bit her lip and nodded, “i just …I feel like I should still be punished for what I did,” she said softly, “Pittsburg was the closest I got …when I pleaded guilty last year, it - it wasn’t just to protect the BPRD …” she admitted.
