"Welcome, welcome, welcome," Jaskier proclaimed loud enough to possibly make up for the other teacher's lack of enthusiasm. "To how to form a band. We're so very thrilled to have you all!"

Right, Cara?

"I can't think of any class I'd rather run," Cara said, dry as the desert.

He followed Geralt around for years, it didn't even phase Jaskier. Which was why he was already moving onto the point before he got jabbed in the ribs or something like that. "We'll start out easily enough with what instruments you play or what talent you bring to the table here. Even if it's just glowering in a very attractive way."

"I'm also very good at hitting people." No need to sound so cheerful about that, Cara. "You'd be surprised how useful that is when dealing with musicians."

"And vendors," Jaskier had to admit.

"And audiences." Cara maybe tended to go with violence as a solution to most problems.

Vi shrugged, jerky and awkward. "I don't, much, not in a long time."

Steph knew how Vi was about sharing information about herself, so she wasn't going to say anything out loud, but she thought she could guess at what not in a long time entailed.

Instead she just nodded. "Makes sense. But if you ever get the urge to do it again, I'd kinda like to hear you." She held up her hands. "No pressure at all, you know that."

She'd mostly stopped when Powder had gotten old enough to stop asking her to, though what Steph was probably guessing at hadn't helped at all.

"Maybe." Which was noncommittal, but it also wasn't a 'no'.

Well, yeah. Steph had figured it had a lot to do with Powder, one way or another.

"Like I said." She gave Vi a reassuring smile. "Only if you ever want to, okay?"

As so many of Vi's various things did.

"I know." Vi smiled back. "You wouldn't try to make me do something I didn't want to." Or at least she wouldn't without a good reason.

It would have to be a really damn good reason. Steph had very strong feelings about people she cared about getting to have as much of a say in their own lives as possible.

"Damn, though. You're full of surprises."

"I didn't say I was any good," Vi mumbled. If anything it'd been so long she'd probably be worse than she remembered.

Steph snorted. "Remind me to play you this song that I wrote once." It had taken her the better part of a year to write and piece together, and after recording it she'd never played it for anyone, but if she was going to play it for someone... well. The choice was obvious. "You'll probably feel better about yourself after that."

Vi grinned. "Only if you want to," she parroted back, both sincere and like a little shit. It was a gift.
