"Welcome, or welcome back," Jaina greeted everyone when they met in the Danger Shop. "If you were here last class, I'm sorry about the final, there was a crisis, it's fixed now.

"We're going to pick up where we left off, with this clawcraft. It's mostly associated with a race called the Chiss back in my galaxy, and while they're slower, they're actually pretty maneuverable. So this time I'm going to have you face off against some programmed X-wings, which are faster, and see how you fare with different types of ships."

Get in your simulators and try dogfighting against X-wings, which were definitely programmed by an X-wing pilot who thought they were superior. How'd you do?

Stark hadn't flown anything, even in simulation, in some time. He hadn't been piloting anything when he'd returned to Moya.

He was not doing well against the X-wings. But then dogfighting was not something he'd had practice with to begin with.

Flight and driving sims had never been Steph's favorite kinds of video games, but she'd signed up for this because honestly, why the hell not?

She managed to dodge a few initial shots purely by virtue of not actually knowing what the hell she was doing and therefore being far too erratic for the X-wing pilots to track, and then she flew head on right into another volley of fire, lost two wings, spiraled out of control and crashed into a glorious ball of flame.

"That was fucking awesome."

Goose pushed it as far as he could go with the ship but even after he was able to dodge the x-wings for a good while, he eventually lost control and crashed.

It had only been a matter of time really.

Lana hadn't experienced either of these sorts of ships before, and unfortunately overcompensated a few times before she got the hang of how maneuverable the clawcraft was.

The x-wings seemed pretty interesting, too.

"I don't suppose you have any of these to spare?"

I'm jet lagged, unfocused, not sure I'm posting on the right day but doing it anyway, and doing normal things is dumb. Like I just spent two weeks chasing lions and now I have to put a new trash bag in the garbage can? This is bullshit.
