"Right!" Lana clapped her hands. "Welcome back. Today we're going to do an Earth exercise that I discovered." She had personally found it to be horrible, but she wasn't going to be the one doing it, was she?

She tapped at the Danger Shop controls, and was rewarded with a platform about five feet off the ground with stairs going up to it.

"This is called a 'trust fall'. One at a time, you'll go up there and fall off of it backwards. Everybody else will catch you. No Force abilities, magic, wings, or far-jumping - you have to just fall, and trust the rest of us."

After all, this place had safety protocols, didn't it?

"It behooves you all to catch each other, because after all, they'll be catching you sooner or later."

Nell was not putting herself in a postion where men could put their hands on her. Sorry, Lana. She'd explain later if asked, but for now she was just going to sit quietly off to the side and pretend she wasn't here.

Nell looked to make sure no one was close enough to hear and potentially be offended because that certainly wasn't her intention. "M'just not comfortable with men putting their hands on me," she said very quietly

"Ah, right!" Lana nodded. "Of course." She thought about it. "What if we have only the women catch you?" Ghanima alone could probably do it, and Lana (and the Danger Shop safeties) would be there just in case.

Nell was already shaking her head. "No, I..." Now that she was anxious, even the thought of the woman touching her made her more nervous. Besides, the men would still see her, perhaps see her figure more clearly or if her skirt flew up some or if... She knew how some men could be and while she'd fought and got away both times the second time she'd killed the man and discovered just how dangerous her abilities could be - even when she hadn't truly meant to or understood in the moment.

She shuddered at the memory of the terror and relief - and the bloodlust of the land - that had run through her. "I'd really rather just watch. Please."

"All right." Lana nodded. She hesitated. "Would you like to talk about it? Later, if not here."

"I... maybe? Yes... so that at least you'll know?" Nell said.

"I'd like that," Lana said. "If you're comfortable with it. I'm not actually looking to traumatise anyone." Well, with the possible exception of Anakin, but even that was less in a "giving someone flashbacks" sense and more in a "making them question their philosophy" sense.

"When I was... just after John and Leah married me... Joshua Purdy and his brother Jackie and a couple of their friends cornered me at the door to the ladies' restroom after church services. They put their hands on me and pawed at me and tried - they wanted - to have their way with me." Nell shifted uncomfortably, "If John hadn't shown up just then... he left 'em in a world of hurt and we didn't stay with the church much longer, but... It was ugly."

She was shivering a little, less even from this story than the other one. The one where she'd taken someone's life to save herself.

Lana narrowed her eyes. "Good for John. I'm sorry you had to go through that." She held a hand out if Nell wanted to hold it or have a hug. "Right, nothing requiring close contact going forward. Sorry I didn't know."

"I don't talk about it," Nell said. "Back home everyone knew and here... well, it ain't - it's not - something that comes up in everyday conversation."

She managed a bit of a smile for Lana. "Thank you."

"Yes, but we were roommates, and I'm supposed to be observant," Lana said. "Well, now I know, and I know what not to do."

Nell couldn't help another small smile. "Not like you're a man and went around grabbing me or nothing. But I'm glad you know."

"I wouldn't if I was," Lana promised. "And if anybody tries anything, let me know. They won't want to again."

She was perfectly capable of targeted lightning.

"I kicked Joshua where it counts and knocked him down," Nell said. "But there were too many of them. I'm hoping not to run into anything like that ever again, but if I should I'd appreciate your help."

"Good for you," Lana said firmly. "And absolutely. I'll help however I can. Although hopefully it won't come up."

She could always check her ancestral memory for confirmation, but, well, it just seemed so silly.

"I am suddenly not as surprised that my ancestors made so many terrible decisions."

"Honestly, I think it sounds ridiculous," Lana confessed, "but I've seen it suggested a number of places, so I thought to try it. I'm still not convinced."

Ive done them in real life several times- hate hate hate them!

We had them in PE in high school. Full ropes course, I noped out of the whole thing.

I've had to do them as well and I have been dropped Every Single Time.

And every time the instructor has insisted and then says, "Oh my god, that's never happened before!"

I was constantly bullied and self-conscious about my weight. No way in hell I trusted any of my classmates to catch me. I refused and took the hit to my grades.

It was a theatre thing and I was apparently the eternal optimist. Plus I've discovered as an adult that it actually never occurred to me to rebel. It's weird looking back at things sometimes. People ask why I never broke curfew and my brain just went, "But... I had to be back by ten. What do you mean why didn't I just stay out later? Later would be after ten."

Every time my college theatre department tried to make me do them, I wouldn't even look up from my book. I'd just inform them that games were for actors and as the stage manager, they didn't have a choice but to trust me.

The one time someone tried to force the issue, it did not go well for them.
