Underwater Basket Weaving and Other Aquatic Arts!; Tuesday, Fourth Period [06/07].
Hopefully, everyone would have received the very lovely personalized little scrolls of messages that Sidon was very proud of himself for having written and sent out to everyone via either squirrel or crab, that cordially invited them to gather not at the beach for class that week, but rather in the DANGER SHOP!!! (yes, that was precisely how it had been written), so you knew it had to be good if they were going to meet in the DANGER SHOP!!! instead, right?
Right!
As a matter of fact, when they arrived, they would find themselves in a beautiful mountain vista not too dissimilar from the mountains surrounding Sidon's home, where clear and pristine pools of lakes were scattered among the rocks and trees and fed by a collection of waterfalls, some wide and roaring others small and trickling, from varying heights, all into the wide, deep pools before them.
"Hello again, my wonderful water weavers! And welcome to another exciting lesson in the Aquatic Arts! Today, we'll be covering an Art that is held in particular high regard among my people, and that is the Art of Diving! Everyone!" He made a dramatic swing of his arm in the air to beckon them into the water for taking a moment to jump up to an impressive height, even high enough that he could get in a good flip, before he twisted into a perfect dive into the water. He emerged a moment later with a wide, shining grin and called out, "If you'd like, there's a quick passage that will take you up to where I shall demonstrate, but if anyone would like to take a shortcut, hop on in and we'll give you a taste of waterfall climbing as well as waterfall diving! Just climb onto my back," because that was definitely a normal thing that happened in most classes, your teacher telling you just ride on his back, no big deal!, "and you'll see what I mean!"
And with that, whether solo or with a few brave passengers, Sidon swam up the waterfall with confidence, throwing in a few more flips once he breeched the top with a perfect landing to set anyone who may have been with him down and grin at the others as they took the more conventional route, and got started.
"Now," he declared, "the Art of Diving! Feel free to start with a smaller waterfall if you're less confident or new to this, but don't be discouraged! You've got this! I believe in you all! Just keep in mind these basic steps, and by the end of today, you'll be able to best some of the best Zora in diving! Now, to start, we'll do a few tumbles into this pool to get used to it..."
And with that, Sidon was on his way to giving some of the basic instructions and tips on how to improve one's dive or to merely boost up the confidence to try them! There was a large pool with an edge that made it easy to practice from the ground, as well as a few rocks with more elevation if you wanted to move up a bit, and, of course, if you were really ready for something a little more fun, there were several waterfalls from this point at varying heights just waiting to be dived from! Sidon will even give you another lift up the waterwall to get you back up to the summit faster!
(Although if anyone wanted to try the waterfall climbing themselves, he would be very encouraging, though he was pretty sure anyone else but him would need special armor to do so!)
Right!

Listen to the Lecture - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
Which meant a lot of diving off the side of the biggest waterfall, and then showing back up again with a burst of water and showmanship a second later as he raced back up it because he was not in the least bit shameful about showing off to an extravagant degree.
Re: Listen to the Lecture - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
It was actually quite exhilarating.
Re: Listen to the Lecture - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
Truly, one of Fandom's great tragedy was its entire lack of waterfalls, much less one large enough for a nine foot tall Zora to get a good run out of.
Even with the height of the waterfall, Sidon made short work of the trip, making sure to get some good air off the edge when they hit it and to land in a way that Hannibal could find himself back to his feet on the shore without trouble.
"Wonderful!" he declared proudly. "Was that your first experience with waterfall climbing, Dr. Lecter?"
You know, what with all the vast opportunities out there for it...

lore dropstory, "that the armorers know of an ancient technique that may bestow upon a Hylian with such abilities, should they wear such an armor. Unfortunately, however, I do not know where such armor would exist, if it does at all, and it may not work for a human as it would a Hylian! But I shall be sure to keep an eye open!"Re: Listen to the Lecture - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.

Sidon would also be happy to field any attempts at a diving competition, too, although this truly was his element.
Re: Class Activity: Diving! - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
She stood on the very edge, terrified to try and attempt to dive.
Re: Class Activity: Diving! - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
So she sidled on up next to Jo and gave her a soft, encouraging smile, all the while working her hair into a long braid because she was learning that long, wet, sodden hair could be almost as much of a nuisance as not wearing a swimsuit.
"Your first time, too?" she asked.

Re: Class Activity: Diving! - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
"That's horrible," she said. "I'm sorry that happened to you, Jo. But at least I'm pretty sure no one here will push you in. And I've never done diving before, either, so it's new for me, too. Maybe we can figure it out together?"

She almost wanted to add that, that way, if they did drown, at least they wouldn't be alone, but that didn't really seem helpful since Jo was definitely genuinely afraid, and honestly? That made it even more admirable that she was going to do it. It's easy to do things when you weren't scared, but doing them despite your fears? That was real bravery.

Sidon? Big fan of just flinging oneself off of edges, especially nice and high ones into water!

Talk to the Teacher - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
Or so that's what he believes, anyway.
Re: Talk to the Teacher - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
"Um ... excuse me Pr ... Sidon?" Liz corrected herself in time as she approached him.
Re: Talk to the Teacher - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
Re: Talk to the Teacher - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
There was a pause, "actually I ... I was hoping to ask you about Prompto ... I ... do you know about his situation back on his world yet?"
She figured she should probably ask if Sidon knew what had been happening with Prompto before she started asking about the different Eos Gods.
Re: Talk to the Teacher - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
Well, looks like someone was a bit behind in his plottiness!
"I hear it's to be quite the event! In fact, Prompto said he would get back in touch with me if he figured out a way that I may attend without causing too much of a stir. As I'm sure you well know, their not particularly used to a lot of...non-human entities in that world, but the kingdom of Lucis and Zora's Domain have long since forged an alliance! Well," he broke off with a small chuckle here, "a bit longer for us Zora than for the Lucians, since it's been thirty years since we made that pact for me, but far less for them!
"Still..." he said, tilting his head thoughtfully with a finger curled to his chin, "it is a bit strange that I haven't heard anything from him regarding the wedding plans for a while now. It's been, what? Two weeks' time now since they set off on that particular adventure?"
Re: Talk to the Teacher - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
"I ... I'm ... " she started and then stopped, "the wedding ... it didn't happen, it was ploy by the Niflheim Empire so they could attack Insomnia ... it's ..." Liz had to remember to breath as she felt a rush of the crushing emotions of despair she hadn't been feeling for a few days return, "we've, we've lost contact with them ... " it was here she had to stop, taking deep breaths, the tears she had managed to keep at bay for the last few days were threatening to return and the last thing she wanted was to break down crying again, especially in front of Sidon.
Re: Talk to the Teacher - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
If Sidon had a more humanoid brow, it would certainly be furrowed at that moment! Since he didn't he just lowered his head a little, stroking his chin as he considered this, and then looked to Liz, and managed to find a small smile, a soft and encouraging one, with a faint nod to convey his understanding at how distressed this might be making her feel.
He, after all, was certainly no stranger to losing contact with those one loved, but considering his contact had been stifled for more than thirty years now....mentioning that didn't seem very helpful.
"Is there anything we can do to help?" he asked instead, which was far more useful anyway.
Re: Talk to the Teacher - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
She paused, "actually, I ... I was hoping to ask you if Prompto ever talk about the Eos Gods? We think there may be a connection since it seems every time we hear them, they've been interacting with a God and I was wondering if you knew any of their names?"
Re: Talk to the Teacher - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
He knew that was a little bit of a difficulty that humans tended to have, but he couldn't exactly blame them. When your lives were so abysmally short, it made sense to him that you'd want to make sure to shove as much life into those meager years as one could!
"But speaking of faith," he continued, once again with a hand to his chin as he tried to think back over the decades, especially back to when he and Prompto did spend more time together as part of their tightly-knit little group of friends, and then he shook his head, "I can't say I can really recall much. Obviously, in our dealing of peace and alliance with Lucis, I've learned a bit about the political side of things, but, besides the Oracle, there doesn't seem to be as much regarding their gods there. She, of course, can commune with them, but the position seems to be one that is more to serve the people as a sort of divine communicator more than anything else. And I know there's a Ring involved somehow, that's what gives the Kings of Lucis power over the crystal that protects their city, but, beyond that? I'm afraid I can't tell you much more, Liz, I'm terribly sorry..."
Re: Talk to the Teacher - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
“Oh,” she said a bit quietly, “I mean, no that’s okay …none of us really knew about their religious beliefs, so we weren’t sure about how to go about exploring the Gods angle,” she explained and paused.
“well I know Prompto said before I lost contact that they were going to go around to the tombs of Noctis’ ancestors, I think it was so they could give him their powers?” she said, “do you think that could that be to do with the ring?”
Re: Talk to the Teacher - Underwater Basket Weaving, 06/07.
Oh, Sidon, you had no idea.
"But if I recall correctly," he added, going thoughtful again, "the Ring is tied to Noctis' legacy as the future king, and I believe I recall it bring mentioned that certain powers are tied to it, but beyond that, I don't believe he went into much detail. It certainly seems, though, that lineage and acenstry is important to the crown of Lucis, so that would make sense."
