Library, Thursday 5/26

Belle hadn't spoken to anyone yet today so she hadn't noticed anything unusual when she arrived at the library.

Nothing unusual besides the usual unusualness of the library, anyway.

Nearly as soon as Belle sat down at the desk she saw an apple fly through the air and splatter against a shelf.

"That was uncalled for," she told whoever might be listening. "You've made a mess and wasted perfectly good food!" There was no answer. Belle shook her head and went back to looking at the book in front of her.

Unfortunately that was not the only flying fruit to be found. It was probably caused by gremlins but who could say for sure?

Five had definitely not spoken to anyone today. As was evident from him, you know, existing at all in a public space during this stupidity.

"Why does something weird always happen here?" he asked rather than greet her.

"Oh, I'm glad you're here" Belle said. Then frowned because that wasn't what she'd meant to say.

"I hadn't seen you and I was concerned," Belle told him, looking slightly horrified as she did so. "I'm glad you thought it was nice to hear."

"I was stuck in the 60's, rescuing my siblings who annoy me about as much as I love them." Five made such a face at that sappy bullshit coming out of his own mouth. "Did you curse me? Is this a curse?"

"Did you find your family? All of them? That's wonderful!"

"I found them and they nearly ended the world again." Of course they did. "Why am I telling you all this?" he demanded.

Belle's eyes widened. "Why did I say that?"

There was certainly some sort of forbidden fruit and/or knowledge joke to be made.

"Of course something is happening here! You didn't cause something with your time travel, did you? That would be just like you. Irritating and interesting all at once."

This was terrible. Everything was terrible.

Which was also very nice to hear! Romantic even.

"No, I met up with my father and got some advice that ended up being useful when my siblings and I were all gunned down at the end." Oh no, fuck that. His expression was one of either extreme constipation or this was what Five looked like when he was blue screening.

Because he immediately teleported away.

"I hate when you do that even if it is terribly impressive," Belle said, glaring at the space Five had just vacated.

"You can't just tell a person that you were gunned down with your whole family and then vanish and expect me to just stand here! I need to know what happened! You are maddening! And fascinating!"

And also why Five teleported back to start to demand she not tell anyone about his siblings being killed again, but instead said, "I do it to be impressive and to test how willing you are to put up with my idiosyncrasies for a relationship to actually work."

Then threw his hands up like he wanted to strangle himself and teleported away again.

"I am very willing to put up with your idiosyncrasies! I should have thought that was obvious by now," Belle yelled at the ceiling, not sure where to aim her annoyance.

"And it's very impressive and I would very much like to know what you meant by that last statement!"

Sitting there yesterday minding my own business and an apple flies through the air from the stairway by my desk to the shelves across the library, hits the corner of a brand new book on top of a shelf, splits open, and splatters on top of the shelf.
