Yoga; Thursday, Third Period [05/19].

The rain unless I suck at weather reports somehow? meant that the class was meeting in the community center that week, were a good space had been cleared out and littered with yoga mats except for one table at the front of the room where Rosa sat, legs folded in front of her and focusing on the rain on the rooftop to help her channel out some of her more murderous tendencies before it was time to start. It was surprisingly effective, even if she did sort of sneer a little when she opened her eyes to see that people actually still came presumably to her class.

"Right," she said, sighing a little and unfolding her legs to slip off the table, and just went right into it. "So last week, we went over some of the basic poses you'll find in yoga. This week, we're going to talk about sequences. Sequences are basically taking individual poses and stringing them together, hopefully in ways that transition smoothly and enhance the effectiveness of those poses. You can always put together your own sequences to fit your needs, but there are some pretty standard and typical ones, too. The most well known of these is probably the sun salutation, twelve asanas that flow into each other in sequence. Keep in mind, there are a few variations of this particular sequence, too, so if you're more familiar with another one....okay...but this is the one we'll be learning today."

And, with that, Rosa began a step-by-step break-down of the Sun Salutation and was just going to assume everyone was following along.

Duke had hardly believed it when he skimmed the class listings this summer and saw who was teaching yoga.

Damn right he was going to show up and smirk as often as possible! Which was precisely what he was doing today. Though he was kind of impressed, actually.

That was more words than he thought he'd ever heard her speak -- ever.

Steve was good at this one! No falling over for him today!

It was the little things, okay?

Nell surprised herself at how easily this seemed to come to her.

Duke moved relatively smoothly through his sun salutations -- though it'd been long enough since he'd practiced regularly that it wasn't nearly as smooth as he wanted it to be.

The frustration was making it a little bit hard to be properly zen. Only the frustration, though. Definitely not, like, the lingering trauma that had kept him from practicing properly in the first place.

Kurt had done yoga in a more relaxed and informal way for some time. So the general moves were familiar... but it had been a while so he was going a bit slower than he would have liked. No falling though, his limberness and balance was too good to allow that to happen. Especially not in front of an entire class.

Despite outward appearance, Yoga was something Billy had practiced regularly for some time. When dealing with trauma and the effects of nearly dying... several times... over the course of several years... you look for ways to keep yourself grounded.

So, Billy worked his way through the sun salutations, making a mental note to add them to the rotation for his own yoga and meditation sessions out at his shop.

Liz had a lot better sense of balance this week and while she still didn’t have the poses quite right, she wasn’t doing too badly at them.

Lana hadn't done yoga - unless she'd done some at Fandom before? she vaguely recalled that - but the process was similar enough to kata that her only problem was remembering the sequence.
