Someone in the administration had insisted--strenuously--that Beaker have his class in the Danger Shop (something about insurance and liability and fire suppression systems), so welcome to the Danger Shop, everyone!

Beaker was wearing his lab coat and standing in front of the classroom, looking extremely nervous. This was his default expression, so don't read too much into it.

"Meep meep meep," he began as everyone found a chair. "Meep meep meep--" he gestured expansively with his arm, "--meep meep meep mee!"

Everyone get that? No?

"Meep," he said, moving around to the other side of the lab table and picking up a beaker of a clear liquid. "Meep meep meep meep meep!"

Then he picked up a huge piece of sodium with tongs. So...hopefully people who recognized that were stepping back a bit.

"Meep meep mee--" he said, tipping it into the beaker of water.

Explosion.

"MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

Don't worry, the fire suppression system would kick on in a second, plus there was a very wise firefighter in the classroom.

Put on your eye protection, gang. Just in case.

He's quite chatty. Whether you understand anything he's saying is a different problem.

Amaya Blackstone

Obviously, Amaya was very thrilled to be taking a workshop taught by honestly one of her favorite students over the years. At least, she normally would be; right now, she was almost a little too tired to feel much of anything except bleary exhaustion, to the point where she almost thought about just skipping the class today. But since she definitely wasn't getting any work done at the forge, either, she figured she had nothing left to lose.

Except maybe a limb or two.

It felt like a worthy risk to take.

Sakaki was pretty much 99% sure she might actually be hallucinating from the lack of sleep right now. First off, there was a funny man with an odd mouth talking in a language she couldn't understand (and, yes, understanding English had gotten progressively worse throughout the week, but she didn't think it had gotten so bad that all it sounded like was a bunch of nonsensical meep-ing sounds!) doing who even knew what, and then all of a sudden...

She was not proud of the squeak of a scream of surprise that escaped her, especially when she was so much better about keeping things like that restrained, and now she could feel tears welling up in her eyes again, out of embarrassment, out of desperation, out of just wanting to go back to her room and curl up and have Hedwig back so she could sleep again...

Miguel O'Hara

Miguel had taught Beaker.

Miguel had signed up for this class for a reason.

Miguel had brought popcorn.

Dropping sodium in water was boring.

Miguel was tossing the sodium in the air and then trying to splash it with the water.

Travis Montgomery

"The school signed me up for this for insurance reasons, didn't it," Travis mused.

Any moment now, he'd remember he should probably actually put the fire out. Aaaany moment now.

"Oh my god why."

"Why not?" Miguel asked, grinning. "This thing has safety protocols, and it's not like I can do anything worse than the instructor."

Shane Gooseman

Goose was operating under a combination of no sleep and a lot of sugar and caffeine.

“Ooooh,” Goose’s eyes were wide as he watched everything explode, “cool,”

Goose should not be anywhere near this class in his current state but he was rather enthusiastically putting sodium into the water and watching it explode everywhere with a grin.

“Why would you say that?! You’re like. Daring the island to prove you wrong!”

Miguel shrugged. "I'm hardy."

There went another bit of sodium, crackling from the moisture in the air before he got to splash it.

"Oh good. Well that makes it all better."

Rolling his eyes like that was going to give him a headache.

Guillermo de la Cruz

Even though he was rather tired, this was one of the coolest things that Guillermo had ever seen so he was watching the explosion rather enthusiastically.

Miguel grinned. "Want to take a shot? Seriously, there are safety protocols on the room; nobody can get hurt."

"I . . . really do not," Travis said.

He really kind of did.

"I'm a firefighter. Not a firestarter."

"You need to practice putting them out, don't you?" Miguel asked. "Someone's got to start them first. Why not you?"

He had possibly spent too much time around Rosa.

"Because that's not how the job works. I'm not telling you how to . . . whatever you do."

Well. He was telling him not to fling sodium. So that was a thing.

"I'm a scientist," Miguel declared.

There went another chunk of sodium.

I took chemistry for science majors in a summer class with an awesome professor who liked to demonstrate things.

"So if I take this sodium...Hm. That's a bigger piece than I wanted. ...Eh, we're a small class, they'll never notice if we blow up." *drops it in water*
