BWI Airport, Saturday Morning

Anakin had searched for a while to find the Fandom bus this morning, but had only found the Fandom Sensible Mini Van, and so here he was, parking in the fire lane, ignoring the glare of the airport security people and striding into the waiting area.

"Fandom High?" he called, looking to see if the two students they were expecting were arriving this way. They might be coming via Portalocity instead?

A sadly not shirtless like the icon blond boy in a hoodie with cat ears on it was curled up across two seats, using a backpack as a pillow and snoozing away.

...someone might want to wake him up before the bus sensible minivan left.

Would a tall man looming over him help at all? "Which one are you?" he demanded.

That was how he woke up half the time at home tbh. Usually with one of his brothers wondering how he'd managed to fall asleep there.

Gray stretched and rubbed at his eyes before he processed the question. "Uh," he said. Hang on, brain still booting up. "Sloth?" Wait, that probably wasn't what he was asking. "I mean, Gray?"

"Welcome to Fandom, Gray," Anakin said, nodding. "I'm Master Anakin Skywalker, the dean of students. Do you have any luggage?"

"Master?" Gray repeated. "Kinky." Gray. No. "Uh, yeah, I've got..." he gestured vaguely to his stuff: his backpack and a couple of large suitcases. "But I can handle it."

Anakin shuddered. "Decidedly not kinky."

The fans had been slightly scarring.

Well, how else was he supposed to take a grown man running around insisting on being called 'master,' Anakin? Really.

"If you say so...Master." He giggled.

You'd think that after years of working with teenagers, Anakin would stop stepping into this same damn trap but noooooooooo. (tm)

"Yes, it's hilarious," Anakin said dryly.

"You and my brother Al would get along great," Gray told Anakin. It was up to him to decide if that was a good or bad thing. "So how far is it to the school? Do I have time to nap? Do I get to ride on one of those yellow school buses? I've always wanted to do that, it seems like so much fun." Oh, his brain was fully online now.

"The yellow bus was indisposed today so you get a navy blue mini-van," Anakin said. "With, um, gremlins on the seats. Stuffed ones, not real."

As far as he'd noticed, at least?

"Are the gremlins real? I thought they were just a mascot. I've never met a gremlin before. I've met some really weird demons, though. Wait, was I not supposed to mention that?" Gray thought about it for a second. He was almost sure one of the kids on the website had been blue, so it was probably fine. "Eh, whatever. So, the gremlins. Real? Can I have one for a pet?"

If it helped any he'd be out like a light within about thirty seconds of getting in the minivan.

"You'd be the very first with a gremlin pet," Anakin said with a grin. "They're real here, possibly demon-adjacent, and their spit makes you hallucinate."

"Oh, probably not a very good pet, then. I--" Gray stumbled as Sloth told him, Sleep now.

But I just woke up, he whined inside his head. Out loud, he said, sounding slightly nervous all of a sudden, "So is it far to the minivan?"

Anakin's brows drew together. "Not at all. Are you all right?"

[napking]

"Oh, I just..." Gray yawned. "I just get really sleepy sometimes. A lot. It's a thing."

It was a pain in his ass, was what it was.

"I understand," Anakin said, wide-eyed. "Let's get into the car and you can nap on the way back to school."
