Exit Strategies, Monday, Period 2
For a change, today Aphra had her class meet her on the front lawn of the school.
"Sometimes, when you need out of a situation, you need resources that you don't have ready to hand. Which means you need to get creative and find those resources." Points to anyone who could guess where this was going, especially today. "Accordingly, I have placed resources that you need around this lawn, and once you fill up your bucket you're free to leave. Happy belated zombie bunny ritual weekend!"
Yep, enjoy your half-price chocolate kids.

Re: Scavenger Hunt - ES [15]
"Sharing is definitely better," she agreed. "Thanks, Vi. You found any good tricks for finding them yet? I'm torn between figuring out if Dr. Aphra's more likely to have tried to make it challenging or if she just sort of scattered them all to the wind and let the candy lie where they may."
Not that torn. She definitely leaned hard in one direction there.
Re: Scavenger Hunt - ES [15]
Aphra had in fact spent several hours modding a mouse droid to launch the chocolates around the lawn for her, despite the fact it would've easier and quicker to do it herself.
"Look up," she said, pointing towards the trees. "There's more on the ground but everyone's looking down there so they're missing any up there."
Re: Scavenger Hunt - ES [15]
"Oh! I wouldn't have even thought to check the trees!"
But now that she did, she spotted a few of them, even in just this one.
"Do you think we can reach them from here?" she asked, looking back at Vi. "Or do you think one of us will have to climb up?"
Re: Scavenger Hunt - ES [15]
She considered the tree. "I can climb," she said. "Unless you want to."
Re: Scavenger Hunt - ES [15]
But the answer to the question was easy, and she shook her head. "You're probably much better at it than I am," she said.
Sure, she'd started wearing jeans to this class regularly by now, so her skirts wouldn't be an issue. But the fact that the last time she climbed a tree, she was probably a Little herself, and it had come with a big speech about unladylike conduct and a punishment to match.

And she couldn't sit comfortably for the better part of a week afterwards, and never thought she'd hear the end of it from Just and Patience, even at that age. Or that breaking a headstrong girl couldn't be any harder than breaking a headstrong horse, when you got right down to it.
"So I'm a bit rusty. You seemed to manage well enough, anyway, Vi!"

She considered the tree thoughtfully.
"Maybe you can just give the branches a good shake while you're up there," she suggested. "See what falls out."
