Photography; Thursday, First Period [04/07].

"Alright, so," Prompto started class with an apologetic grin, "last week was a little off. Sorry about that. But, well, this week, we can get right back into it, and then, actually, we only have a few weeks left, if you can believe it, so we've got one last Career topic to go over, and then it's time tot alk final projects. But before we do that...we're overdue on some pictures, aren't we? So the topic before least week, to refresh your memories, was stock photography, and I also mentioned getting in some good shots at Prom, so let's see what you've got and then we'll move on!"

Once everyone who wanted to share was finished, Prompto nodded with an encouraging, "Great job, you guys, as always. I think you're all really getting the hang of this stuff! But onto today! Okay, so, you've all heard the phrase 'a picture is worth a thousand words,' right? Well, I mean, I'm sure with some people coming from places without cameras, maybe not, but a phrase like that is kind of the basis behind the idea of today's topic: photojournalism!

"Well," he amended with a faint chuckle, "that might not be entirely true, because with photojournalism, there usually are words to go with the picture as well, but the idea of photojournalism is use images to tell a story, usually one relevent to the news. It's a pretty common career for photographers, and kind of an important one. A photojournalist is the one who's recording all the current news for posterity, so that future generations have a visual reference for historical events or even just pieces of interest and biography, things like that. And the key thing to being a good photojournalist is trying to be impartial and honest: let the picture speak for itself, without any bias or influence, which is a lot harder than it sounds! But a good photojournalist will be able to capture images that inspire, inform,, and highlight important events or situations, maybe in ways that people may not have ever seen before."

With that, Prompto took a few more moments to talk about photojournalism as a whole and good tips and practices in that field, before delving into some examples. Sorry, guys. Since it was a pretty intense topic sometimes, this class was definitely going to be pretty lecture and example heavy. It was definitely a good way for him to get back into form after the wildness and chaos that was the last week!
