Today the Danger Shop looked like a very fancy, very intimate, very romantic restaurant, complete with several small tables for two, each with a relatively attractive humanoid seated at them.

"Welcome, kids," Aphra greeted them. "In honour of the holiday, today you'll be learning perhaps the most important escape skill of all. Breaking up!"

So romantic!

"Now I realise this may make me sound like a cynic, but the ability to end a relationship with a minimum of hurt on both sides is a rare and valuable skill." It certainly wasn't one Aphra exercised well. "So today you're going to be breaking up with your long term partner. They're perfectly nice, they haven't done anything wrong, you haven't been unhappy, but lately they've been talking marriage and kids and you've realised you don't see that kind of future with them.

"So get out there and break some hearts. But gently."

If anyone in this classroom knows bad break-ups...

This whole last weekend, between the dance and the dates and the unexpected flowers this morning had been a lot for Libby, and she was almost hoping there'd just be another film with almost as much cleavage as plot so she could figure out how to just get her head back on straight again, so it was almost with utter dismay that she listened to the instructions for today's lesson.

Break-ups weren't really in the purvue of a girl whose only exposure to them were in those ridiculous novels that her sister liked where the protagonists realized the importance of finding a godly man to devote herself to and thus had to leave the handsome bad boy that would inevitably lead her into sin and away from God...

...that, and the tenuous possibility of a far worse break-up between her parents in light of recent events. Which could lead to divorce. Which was one of the worst things that could happen in a marriage, and it had been something she'd been trying not to think about as much as possible.

She shook her head, though, let out a breath, and reminded herself that this was all just a pretend scenario anyway, and probably nothing that she'd ever have to actually do, since she was...

...well, honestly, she didn't know what would happen to her and her future now. Except maybe that she'd be married to the medical field and Jesus, and she had no intention of breaking up with either of them any time soon!

Illyana was rather sure the answer to this was to fake your own death in some dramatic fashion or another, 'for the sake of the world,' and go fuck-off doing something else for a good six months before popping up like nothing happened.

Hey, it was what the superheroes did all the time!

Pick one of the tables and a ~~moddable~~ partner of an appropriate gender, then crush their hopes and dreams.

But, hey, at least Aphra didn't program the sim so they're preparing to propose or anything. That would be awkward.

Aphra totally programmed the sim so they were preparing to propose.

In a way, this whole scenario was absurd to Libby, who couldn't imagine dating anyone without the intention of some day marrying them, but at least, with all her tumultuous feelings about this whole thing, she did feel she knew exactly how to handle this, regardless.

"I'm so sorry," she told the person across the table from her, not able to really look at him, because even though she knew he was just a hologram she didn't even know, this was actually much harder than she thought it would be. In addition to making her feel bad all over again about having to turn down Kurt at the dance. "But....the Lord has clearly been calling us in different directions. Away from each other."

And you couldn't argue with God! And so, with that, Libby just pushed back her chair and turned to leave before her guilt could get the best of her, especially if the hologram person decided to try arguing against God after all!

Well, this was going to be awkward...

She reached across to pat the woman's hand. "Look, babe, it's not you, it's me."

Oh, Vi, honey, no.

Vi watched helplessly as the woman burst into tears.

Guillermo was pretty sure he was never going to be in this position where he needed to break up with someone because that would mean he’d have a relationship to begin with.

“So…I ……um I’m sorry I don’t think this is …working out,” he was saying to the girl across from him, even though it was a hologram, it still felt rather weird, “I hope we can still be friends?” he tried.

It'd probably be quicker for her to list the break-up that haven't ended in murder attempts.
