Bakineering, Wednesday, February 2, 2022

The classroom, in addition to the usual baking and engineering equipment, was now rigged with a giant, fifteen foot tower in the center of the space.

So that was probably fine. Dum-E was hanging out in front of it just in case it caught fire. "Today you get to work with gravity!" Steve said excitedly.

"More specifically, negating the effects of gravity," Tony said. "You will need to build something that will protect your dessert. Be that something that flies or a parachute. Or maybe even just extra padding. It's up to you."

"A hovercraft would be swell," Steve said enthusiastically. Steve had a warped idea of what was possible in high school students because he was married to Tony Stark.

Tiny, tiny bit, yes.

"Remember to utilize your robot assistants here!" Tony added.

"And your desserts need to be light, too," Steve said. "Like a mousse or a meringue. We've left out recipes and equipment to make parachutes, but don't feel limited by what we've provided."

Guillermo decided to make a meringue after that had been fun last week and was using his bot to assist in attaching it to a parachute.

It was proving to be a bit harder than it looked.

Guillermo was eventually able to get the parachute attached to his meringue and threw it off the tower.

It started to go well only half way down the parachute came unattached and it ended up creating a huge mess when it hit the bottom.

This week Alara decided to let her bot do most of the more delicate parts of putting her creation together, since she hadn’t had much luck the last few attempts.

She opted to make a mousse and to be extra careful, made sure there were quite a few extra layers of padding around it as well.

Alara was hoping that with the several additional layers of padding protecting her mousse, that it would survive her attempt at throwing it off the tower.

So Alara was actually rather surprised when it landed and it was in tact.

“I think that’s a first,” she remarked, blinking a bit.

“I really thought that was attached,” Guillermo looked at the mess of foam and meringue on the ground.

Even though it had actually been kind of cool to see Dum-E in action so he wasn’t too disappointed that his meringue hadn’t survived the fall.

Hey, this was closer to something Vi actually understood. Well, she knew shit all about airships worked, or aerodynamics, but getting down from that height without ending up a greasy smear on the ground? Child's play.

Now if she could just figure out how to make that work...

After a bunch of failed attempts with Little Bot, Vi wrapped up a ball of cookie dough (deliberately raw this time) up, stuck it in a container coated with tacky goop and pressed it to the top outside wall of the tower, where it slowly pulled off the wall, only for its next side to press against the wall on the way down, and repeat all the way to the ground.

Congratulations Vi, you just reinvented the sticky wall crawler.
