Creature Languages, 4/17, Period 4

There is candy and soda for the students, as well as herbal tea.

Dream waits for the students to assemble, then begins his lecture.

"Hello. Today we begin our study of the last animal language we will discuss this semester. It is one that may be perhaps closer to your own tongues than many of the others we have studied -- that of simians, especially monkeys."

Dream cues up a videotaped lecture in the DVD player. "This speaker makes the unfortunately common error of conflating monekys with apes, but it is still a reasonable discussion of the similarities and differences between the uses made of languages by simians, and those by man."

"I also have a handout containing a touch more information about monkeys, and a second handout about squirrel monkeys specifically, such as our own Mr. Nielson."

"Ask questions, should you have them."

As Victor left the classroom, he turned around and stepped in front of Walter.

"I still love you," he said before quickly walking off.

Walter caught his breath and stopped where he was. Don't. caught on his lips.

Pippi comes up behind Walter and waits.

Walter watched Victor until he was out of sight and brushed his hand through his hair, almost hoping to find a weetiny bunny to distract him. Alas, there were no weetiny bunnies.

It took him a moment to register through his distraction that Pippi was waiting behind him.

"Hey."

Pippi gave him a smile and hooked her arm with his to walk with him.

She didn't say anything.

Neither did Mr. Neilson.

Walter forced a smile in return and let Pippi escort him out of the classroom. "I'm going to go get my meeting with the Dean over with now. I'll see you later."

"Good luck." Pippi nodded to him, and split off from him after a reassuring squeeze of the arm.
