"One of the key skills in home maintenence," said Ignis, getting the class started right out the gate, without any preamble today, "is a certain sense of flexibility. Case in point, I was thinking we might head into our cooking units, which seemed like a logical next step coming out of budgeting and meal planning, but recent events," there was almost a warm smile there, if you knew how to look for it, "made me realize that perhaps a detour may be in order, especially since cooking, particularly for those who are unfamiliar or are just starting out, can lead to quite the mess, and there are a great many things out there that can lead to troublesome stains or perisistant soiling of clothing, surfaces, and egos.

"Now," the grin on his face was a bit more obvious now, "I may not be qualitied to offer much advice on that last one, but I do have solutions for the others, which we will get into in more detail next week. This week, I would like us to go over cleanliness of the home in broader terms. Please note, I know some of you will likely find a good deal of this stuff to be almost second nature or common sense, but what may be old and familiar to some may be entirely new and different to others, especially in a classroom where we are lucky to experience such a wide variety of origins and backgrounds.

"That said, today, we will go over a variety of different cleaning methods, both manual and mechanical, that should cover most areas of a household from top to bottom and all around. Those of you already quite familiar with these techniques, bear with me, and those of you for whom this might be unfamiliar, pay attention. Afterwards, I have the classroom set up into various stations to practice. With that said, let us begin, starting with...where else...sweeping..."

From cleaning stains off of carpet, clothing, and ceilings to the most effective sweeping methods and dusting techniques, this lecture has everything.

Or at least it certainly tried, although if there's any particularly obscure or specific cleaning question gnawing at anyone's brains, Ignis would be more than happy to address it as well!

"Um ... is there appropriate attire for cleaning?" Jo asked since she was in a dress and cardigan today and it definitely looked more in place at a Sunday Church service than in a classroom.

Also this was definitely something that she didn't have any experience in at all ... especially not at home but she figured she'd start with perhaps the obvious question first.

"An excellent question," said Ignis, with a faint smile, "as always, Ms. Jones. Typically, when you're cleaning, I would recommend not wearing your absolute best, as it can often be quite dirty work. I would recommend something comfortable that allows you to move easily in, that you wouldn't mind picking up on some of the dust and schmutz you're bound to stir up, especially if you're planning to go well beyond a surface cleaning. Gloves and an apron might also be a wise idea, if you're particularly concerned with keeping your hands as well as your clothes clean in the process."

Truly, what thrilling experiences await you as you have the opportunity to attempt to clear the dust from a very cluttered shelf or see to a wide variety of stains on different fabrics with a selection of materials available to you! The cleaning stations are entirely moddable to whatever you would like to take care of, to make everything sparkle and shine...or potentially just make everything worse!

Guillermo had no idea that his future was going to involve a lot of cleaning up for a group of vampires but he was already pretty good at helping his mum clean at home so he decided to tackle a particularly dusty bookcase and try getting that dusted and wiped down.

It was quite a bit of work since it was quite a large bookcase and was filled to the brim with books so it was taking him quite a while to finish.

Kiem had never cleaned before. It came with being royalty to have servants do that for you. Not that he wasn't going to try! He was going to do his best, it was just that he ended up with more dust on himself than on the duster, and accidentally bleaching the fabric when removing the stains.

Which left him frowning, and looking a little awkward.

It may be a bit of a tedious lesson, but Ignis is happy to shoulder the burden if it help make the multiverse a slightly more tidier place.
