Great Legends of Hyrule; Wednesday, Third Period [01/26].

"Hello, again, my intrepid scholars of great legends!" Sidon greeted the class with the usual excitement and vigor, but, alas, there were no drawings on the board that day to try to decipher. He was depending solely on his skill as a great weaver of stories with this one day! "And welcome back! You may recall that last week, we discussed powerful legendary weapons, specifically The Sword that Seals the Darkness, which you may remember is weilded by a great hero of Hylian legend! And you may recall that such a Hero has a counterpart, as champion to a powerful Princess with incredible magical powers that she cultivates from her bloodline decendant from the Goddess Hylia herself to protect our land! Today, we talk a little bit about those powers and the source from which they come: the Three Springs of Wisdom, Courage, and Power!"

Okay, so maybe Sidon wasn't completely relying on his lecture, as he did turn around to scrawl out 'WISDOM', 'COURAGE', and 'POWER' on the board, to be extra helpful, before he turned back to the class, clapped his hands, and continued.

"Now," he said, "the locations of these springs are not at all legend, as they are very real locations that one might stumble upon in their travels, though they are, indeed, very sacred and holy ground. It is from these sacred springs that a Princess of Hyrule must commune with the goddess and the very essence of Hyrule to call forth her powers and abilities.

"The Spring of Wisdom sits not too far from my own home of Zora's Domain, nestled in the trecherously icy peaks of Mount Lanayru, so the trek to visit this spring is an adventure all its own! There, she will find a statue of Hylia marked with the Mark of Nayru, one of the golden goddess, which shares a similiar design to the Zora's Sapphire! It is said that the great spirit dragon Naydra protects the spring, as well, but we will save the discussion of the spirit dragons for another class! Today, we focus on the springs and what they represent and why it may be important for a Princess of Hyrule to be able to access all three. But the Spring of Wisdom is said to be closest to the heart of the Princess, and the ultimate test of her powers.

"The Spring of Courage is said to be nestled in the thick jungles of Faron, on the edge of the Necluda region. And as the Spring of Wisdom is said the be protected by the dragon spirit Nayru, the Spring of Courage is kept by the dagon spirit Farosh....not only in spirit, but in actuality, as there is a great ancient structure of a dragon built around the spring by some mysterious tribe that may stretch as far back as the beginning of Hyrule itself, that not even the Zora can remember! They say the spring is nestled in the very mouth of the fearsome dragon, so one truly must have courage to step forth into its mighty maw!

"And finally, the Spring of Power lies far in the north of Hyrule, in the great Akkala plains, and protected by the dragon spirit of Dinraal. They say that the Spring of Power is actually well hidden within the land itself, as if to say that power shall spring forth from deep within Hyrule.

"As I mentioned earlier, then," Sidon continued, "a princess born to the Hylian royal family with the blood of the goddess in her vein must travel to all three springs in order to discover her true power to protect and serve Hyrule. There, it is said she must pray and speak to the golden goddesses of each shrine there and collect from them their magical energy: of wisdom, of courage, of power. Without these boons from the goddesses, then, it is said that the princess will be unable to tap into her powers, which should be fully realized by the time she is but eighteen years old..."

He went a little quiet for a moment, still uncertain as to whether or not he wanted to detail the most recent Zelda's failure in upholding the traidtion, but decided there was no need to mention it, unless, perhaps, it came up. So, instead, Sidon met the class with a smile and a nod.

"So what are your thoughts?" he asked. "What I would like to explore in particular with this legend is the nature of the TRIFORCE three different aspects of the springs. Why do you think there are three? Why might they be the three that they are? Do you think one should have Wisdom, Courage, AND Power all in one? Why do you think that is? Are there any legends from your world that might be similar? What do you think it takes to prove oneself worthy for such powers? Is a sacred bloodline enough? Or should there be something more?"

Here, Sidon cut off his musings with a chuckle. "And what," he concluded, looking at them all with his yellow eyes shining eagerly, "questions might I be forgetting that you may have? Let us, as always, discuss!"

Well in fairness, when you are just a young kid and you find out that some version of you- out there somewhere in the apparent multi-verse of realties- ends up being part of the X-Men, which is currently your dream.... yeah, pep talks can be a good thing. Even from a giant shark man.

Kurt listened intently and nodded thoughtfully for a few moments.

"Then I am going to do whatever I can to find all three so I can make my dream come true and become one of the X-Men someday!"

And who knew... maybe there was a whole self-fulfilling prophecy thing starting now?
