Weaponry; Wednesday, Second Period [01/19].
Once again, as should probably be expected as the weeks went on in this class with very few exceptions, things were all set up in the Danger Shop for that spacious outdoor training grounds with a certain medieval flair, plenty of room for movements and the collection of practice dummies, as well as several racks of the Weapon Du Jour! gleaming in the bright fake sunlight.
"Welcome back, everyone," Amaya started, giving the students a nod and a small pump of her fist, before she sorted and rolled her eyes, "finally! We're moving on to one of the most basic and ubiquitous of weapons, one that some might find a little archaic but never fails to do its job of slicing, dicing, poking and prodding, one that almost pretty much takess weapon and expands on it a little, and that is the sword."
Amaya gestured dramatically to one of the racks behind her. "Ah, yes," she said, "the the swords! Truly a classic, especially where I'm from, a sword is a bladed weapon intended for slashing or thrusting, distinquished by being longer than a knife or a dagger like we worked with last week. As a matter of fact, they rather evolved from the dagger, way back when, when someone likely looked at their dagger and thought to themselves, 'Yes, I like this...but what if it were bigger?'"
"And who hasn't been there?" murmured Rosa with perhaps a hint of a grin if you knew where to look, because, no, that joke was never going to get old, and no, Amaya still didn't get it.
"Since then," Amaya continued with dedication, "swords have developed in a variety of different ways in a variety of different places, making them quite possibly the most varied and diversified group of weapons out there. You've got short swords and long swords. Swords with box hilts and even hilts, swords with pointed tips or tapered tips, straight blades, curved blades, thick blades, thin blades, double edges, single edges...it's almost impossible to squeeze in a comprehensive look at how each of these styles may have developed, how each of them are made, or even what distinguishes them in a single class period. Swords on their own could have a whole dedicated class just for themselves! Even the fighting styles for each of the swords will tend to be quite a bit different from blade to blade.
"So, this week, we're going to let you guys choose which ones you want to talk about. As you can see, I have a variety of different swords here behind me. You're going to take a few moments, look them over, and try and pick out a sword that catches your attention the most. Is it one you're most familiar with? Is it one that you just like the aesthetics of? What in particular drew you to that sword?
"We're a small class this time around, too," Amaya noted, "so that means, once everyone's picked out their sword, we'll cover each of them, with a little history and then Detective Diaz'll show you the most effective ways to use them, and then we'll just set you off on the practice dummies--or, if you really want, since it's the danger shop and all, against each other--to do you best slicing and stabbing!
"
"Any questions before we begin?" Amaya nodded to the class again, lifted one fist to pound decisively into the palm of her other hand. "If not, then let's get started!"

(Assuming, anyway, the mun manages to not utterly fail at writing them up, and if that's the case, Handwavey is our friend!)
Sword Practice - Weaponry, 01/19.
handwavily or otherwiselearned how to use a couple different swords, it's time to put some of that knowledge into practice, by either training against one of the dummies or perhaps even attempting a spar with your fellow students and their swords-of-choice.Practicing with several different swords, even ones they hadn't gone over, is also encouraged.
Talk to the Teachers - Weaponry, 01/19.
Or, in one case, probably talked at.
