Exit Strategies, Monday, Period 2

"Okay, so we're going to revisit the buddy system later down the track," Aphra said, not looking at anyone in particular. Tahani. Vi. "Instead we're going to look at the right way to exit the situation. Namely, the one that works."

She waited a moment before continuing. "If there's anything I want you guys to take away from this class, it's that results matter more than method. Unless you're hung up on ethics, but even in that you can just redefine results. Your goal is to get out of a situation with your skin, and possibly other people's intact, you might need to lie, you might need to steal, or cheat, or blow things up, and what works for some of you mightn't work for others, you do you."

That probably wasn't how that phrase was supposed to work, Aphra.

"Anyway, we're going to watch a short instructional film about different ways to handle the same situation, then I want you think about which of those three ways speaks to you. Share with the class even."

After a weekend resting them, Vi's shoulder and back felt more or less back to normal, but the rest of her was drained and hollow.

She hadn't quite checked out of this class, but her hood was flipped up, and her chin was pillowed on her arms on the desk in front of her.

“Well I’m pretty sure I’m not a murder clown,” Guillermo offered, who had no idea what was in store for him in the future, “I like to think I adapt well to changing situations though,” he knew he was not a cool and collected person by any means.

This weekend's talk with Vi definitely had Libby pretty quiet and thoughtful and reserved for the past could of days; she'd also been doing a lot of praying, both for guidance for herself and for Vi herself, though she wasn't sure if Vi would really appreciate that she had been. Still, she was going to do her best to pay attention to video, though her brow was furrowed in a frown as she did. It was a bit hard for her to follow and understand it; it was so dramatically out of her experience that she wasn't sure what to think. But that seemed to be par for the course for the past few days...

"I'm definitely not a murder clown," she finally concluded, a little wide-eyed, because what a phrase! "I think I'd...really just try to be very subtle, and try to blend in and avoid having to hurt anyone if I could..."

As if she wouldn't immediately be the one likely to be murdered in any of these situations.

"I did like the part about using confusion to your advantage, though. That seemed..." Slightly less murdery? "...effective."
