The Danger Shop was once again set up to be half bakery, half mechanical engineering workshop. But this time, there was a small pool there as well. Which could be a clue to what terrible thing the teachers had in mind this week.
"Welcome back!" Tony said with a bright smile. "We're moving forward on challenging concepts today..."
"We're going to make boats out of food!" Steve said excitedly. "And then we're going to put them in this pool and see how fast you can make them go."
He paused. "Which reminds me that the engineering portion is creating the engine to propel your boats. They need to go 20 feet in a minute without tipping over."
"Which means we have motors that are not made of food," Tony added. "But the boat itself must be made of entirely edible ingredients."
Wood was not edible, okay? Not really.
"It has to be edible, but it doesn't have to be delicious," Steve said, nodding. "It does have to transport something for us to try that should taste good, okay? And we know this is a lot of work to ask from you, so we're giving you some helpers."
Well. 'Helpers.' Steve gestured at the door and a dozen, well, Roombas with a claw arms zipped into the room with varying degrees of skill.
"So, their AIs are still new, but they learn quickly!" Tony said, wincing as one of them bumped into the pool and beeped frantically in a panic.
"They also can't really see very well," Steve said, never afraid to state the obvious. "But they'll definitely be able to tip your boat over if it isn't well-balanced. They'll be here to help you each week."
So they had that going for them?
"Okay. Make us a boat that won't sink and a dessert that won't make us sick! You can do it!"

As for the motor...Vi still didn't know shit about engineering, but given how she'd been recruited often as a pair of hands to hold things steady for Powder or Ekko she'd at least picked up enough for the little mechanical thing to realise what she was trying to do and take over.

Maybe the boat entirely made of chocolate hadn’t been a good idea after all.

Its cargo was the exact same water and flour flatbread, just cooked normally and smeared with butter and some fruit preserves Vi had found.
