Exit Strategies, Monday, Period 2

Once more, Aphra was at the head of the classroom sim and looking like she had many regrets over teaching a morning class.

The sim itself was set up with two person tables which she directed the class to sit at. "Now there's a lot of moving parts that go into creating an exit strategy, some you can control, some you can't so today we're going to talk about the one you really, really can't, which is people. Today we're looking at the buddy system!"

Aphra waited a beat then pressed a control, and everyone suddenly found themselves hand-cuffed to the person they were sitting next to. It sim itself also changed from a classroom to a crashed shuttle (not on fire, for once, Aphra was working up to that). "Oh no, the prisoner transport crashed," Aphra declared dramatically. "Can you make it to the end of class without being recaptured?"

If anything, it was definitely the sort of thing Dr. Aphra would have expected at the beginning of this class just before springing her trap on them.

Also, tangents like these were totally normal for Libby during a class; she wouldn't even have thought that getting out of your seat for an impromptu jazz hand performance would be frowned upon in a normal classroom setting, really, nor did she think anything about the laugh that it pulled out of her.

"Oh!" she said with a light of recognition. "So they're like spirit fingers!"

Which was called that not because of any pop culture reference, mind you, just because religion.

Guillermo was actually rather surprised and pleased that he had made Libby laugh, at least it didn’t sound like unkind laughter anyway. He grinned at her as he sat back down in his seat.

“I suppose that would be one of looking at it,” Guillermo said as he thought about it, nodding, “I actually didn’t think to if like that before”

"And now I have to ask," said Libby, leaning forward a little eagerly, in bold defiance of any earlier concerns about gossip (although she would feel bad about it later when she realized!), "did Mr. Skywalker do jazz hands in this play?"

“He absolutely did,” Guillermo nodded and grinned at her, “and his wife was a shimmying Christmas tree who did jazz hands as well,” he told her.

It had definitely been quite the performance and Guillermo had loved every minute of it.

"Aww, his wife was in it, too?"

Now, see, that was just adorable. And she may have been a little curious about what Mr. Skywalker's wife might have been like. She didn't usually find herself very interested in romantic tales, but she was still oddly charmed by theirs.

"That sounds incredible."

“She was,” Guillermo nodded enthusiastically, “she was an excellent shimmying tree, I don't know who any one else was in the play aside from Jaye, who bartends at Caritas on Saturday - Kiem and I tried to get a discount by doing jazz hands at her but I don't think she was that impressed," Guillermo admitted sheepishly.

"Well," Libby assured him, with a lift of her chin and a squaring of her shoulders to express all the clear weight that a sheltered fundie girl from the sticks would hold in matters such as these, "I was very impressed, Guillermo. Those were excellent jazz hands."
