Guiding the Powerful Yet Incompetent, Monday, Fourth Period

Yennefer swanned into the Danger Shop fashionably late, announcing as she walked, "Right, then. I am Yennefer of Vengerberg and this is Guiding the Powerful, Yet Incompetent." She paused and looked around, observed, "Small class," and went on. "In life, you cannot, unfortunately, always be in charge of everything, and sometimes the people who are in charge are going to be mind-blowingly stupid...and for whatever reason, you can't just kill them." She was disappointed about it, too. "So you're going to have to learn to manage them. That is what this class is for.

"We will begin with the customary introductions. Name and why you think this class will be useful to you, please, and then since that won't take very long we'll try a little thought exercise. Well?" she asked one of her two students at random. "Who are you?"

"H-hello." You'd think by now, Sakaki might be a little more used to class introductions, but she was still clearly a little nervous, mostly because she found the subject she'd wound up in to be a little confusing. But she bowed a little, somewhat awkwardly, because she always forgot that you didn't really do that here in America. "My name is Sakaki, and I don't really know why I'm in this class, but it does sound like it could be helpful. If I...ever wind up haivng to deal with someone who, as you say, is in charge but...erm....not so bright...."

She blinked as she said it, realizing she knew exactly who this sort of class might be helpful for, and then felt terrible for having thought about it.

Meet the King

Yennefer pressed a button on the remote and the Danger Shop transformed into a medieval castle, complete with a king sitting on a throne.

"It is a lovely day in Redania and you are the advisor to a horrible king," Yennefer announced. "And I have terrible news: he's bored."

"I'm bored!" the king shouted from the throne. "This is boring!"

Yennefer nodded sharply. "Just so. It's important to stay one step ahead of your idiot, so, let's consider: what do we think he'll do to alleviate his boredom?"

Sakaki may have jumped just a little bit when the danger shop shifted; she wasn't sure she'd ever really get used to that, but the castle looked lovely and her attention shifted with focus onto the task at hand and their bored king.

"Ano...," she offered, lifting a hand a little nervously, "does the king have any pets? Animals are never boring."

Then again, you could probably find the most boring animal on the planet, set it in front of Sakaki, and she'd be thrilled for hours.
