Bardic Inspiration 2: the Bardening, Thursday, Period 2

One teacher was back to being as normal as he ever was. Thankfully. Since the subject was being a bard and he was the only bard around.

"Welcome back and the most sincere of apologies for last week," Jaskier said.

"As you can see the temporary insanity wore off," Cara said dryly. "We're stuck with what's left."

"She kids! Mostly." Ah, theirs was such a loving partnership. "This week we shall work at helping you become proficient with the lutes that we have provided."

Wait, was that the sound of bandits in the distance? When would they get the Danger Shop figured out??

It wasn't the sound of bandits in the distance. It was the sound of bandits in the nearby. Shut up, the narrative had great grammar.

"Oh no," Cara said, in truly great distress. "Whatever shall we do? How would a bard solve this?"

"With song!" What? Jaskier, no.

Cara was trying not to laugh. Her life was hard. "So it's not trying to sacrifice the prettiest one?"

"But everyone is pretty in their own way," Jaskier insisted. "So, song it is."

If only he was a D&D bard. If only...

This was almost one of those moments where Astrid sort of wished she'd kept up with her sword training from her first semester, although without a sword, it wouldn't have helped much, anyway. She could probably get a good hit in with the lute, though.

But after that first one?

So, instead, she idly strummed her fingers down the strings, let out a weak little note to start, but then stopped, lifted her eyebrows, and asked the approaching bandits, "Do you know this one?"

Maybe a long shot, but it was the danger shop, she literally didn't have anything to lose by trying a conversational diversion, right?
