Fear in Literature, Tuesday 4th period

Jon sat at the desk in front of the room, trying not to fidget as the students made their ways in. When the clock said it was time and everybody seemed to be there, he pushed his chair back and stood, swallowing nervously before nodding to them and standing up straight. He could do this. Just pretend like he was back at his first day in the Archives, only less of a prick.

"Hello. I'm Jonathan Sims. You can call me Mr. Sims. I've never actually taught school before, but I understand you may be used to that. This class is supposed to be about fear in literature," he grimaced a bit at that, "but we haven't actually met yet, so I suppose we'll start the actual literature next week. If you could please read "The Premature Burial" by Edgar Allan Poe, and be prepared to discuss it. For now, I suppose if you could introduce yourselves, we can get started with that. Your name, and...ah...where you're from, and why you're in this class." That sounded reasonable, didn't it?

Troy was still sort of thinking to himself, as he considered that homework, that at least the reading material in Poetry class was short, because poems. So he sighed a little when it came to be his turn and tried not to think about how all his other classes that managed to all be on the same day for some weird reason were way better, sorry about it, Mr. Sims!

"I'm Troy," he offered. "Troy Barnes. I'm originally from Colorado, but I've been going here ever since an injury got me booted out of football. And, uh, I'm in this class because...it was on my schedule?"

Why else would anyone be in this class??

"Malia Tate," Malia said, waving one hand. "I'm from Beacon Hills, California. Um. My alpha kind of picks my classes? And I guess maybe this one sounded 'school-y' to him."

“The guy in charge of my pack? It’s a werewolf thing. I’m technically a werecoyote, but he’s got a kitsune and a banshee and a — well, Stiles — so it’s pretty nonexclusive.”

Oh hey. Someone new and yet with a perfectly respectable response to the supernatural!

Malia favored him with a little smile. “I’ll do my best.”

"I'm Nina Argentum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she said brightly, beaming, and yeah, sorry Mr. Sims, those punctuation marks were here to stay. "I'm, like, originally from one world, but my parents and brother live on another world, and my Dad lives here????????!?!!??"

Nina's family situation was sort of complicated put that way, even though it made perfect sense to her.

"I don't know that I could really say I'm more from Greenhill, Insomnia, or Fandom Island these days??????????????????"

She shrugged a little.

"Anyway, like, I just picked this class because I like to read?????????????"

And she was super pumped about the homework.

"I'm Belle," she said. "From the kingdom of Misthaven. I chose this course because I was excited for a course on literature. I do love reading."

“I’m Josephine Jones, I go by Jo” Jo said when it was her turn, “I’m from South West England and it’s 1952 for me back home,” she paused, “I suppose I took this class because I never really gave literature a chance at my old school,” well that was all classes really but Jo wasn’t going to mention that, “and I wanted to try and correct that,”
