This week the traps had been set aside for an all new challenge... teams. There were t-shirts of different colors to help people remember who their assigned partner would be.

"Welcome back!" Tony said brightly. "Today we're switching things up again, as you can see with the t-shirts."

"We're working in groups!" Steve said. "Teamwork is essential."

At least in Steve's line of work. Maybe not everyone else's? "We're going to play capture the flag, but with paintball guns."

So that should end well.

"We've broken you up into teams of two, so it's a bit of a battle royale style capture the flag," Tony said like this wasn't all for their amusement. "The goal is to get both teammates to the flag and to hold it for the duration of the game."

Easy, right?

"It'll be swell!" Steve said, pulling out a little notebook. "Listen for your names:

Troy still hadn't managed to figure out the special spark that might make him better than poor-to-middling depending on the day in Paintball, and, hey! Maybe a partner was the missing element.

Anyway, he was looking around for Alara, so they could get together and maybe strategise or something.

Alara had never actually played Capture the Flag before so she was probably not going to be the solution Troy was after.

“Hey,” she said after spotting where he was and walking up to him. “I’m Alara,”

Stark was not pleased with this turn of events. The whole purpose of paintball was to try and shoot Anakin! That was what made it fun. Shooting Anakin.

He was grumbling that thought under his breath as he grabbed a shirt.

"Ugh," Anakin said, not bothering to keep it under his breath at all.

"I blame you," Stark said, like a very mature individual because Anakin always brought out the best in him.

"I had absolutely nothing to do with this," Anakin said, scowling.

"Of course you would say that. You may not have done it but it's still your fault." Blaming Anakin was one of Stark's favorite hobbies. It came in right below covering Anakin in paint on the list.

"I suppose I can try not shooting at you for one week." But then who would he shoot at?

That way it would be a surprise when Anakin shot him!

Which didn't answer the question.

The noise Stark made wasn't quite a growl. Almost.

"I'll help her shoot you first."

"You've ignored the rules before. Maybe it's my turn."

It would be a miracle if either of them stopped bickering long enough to shoot anyone, honestly.

Steve and Tony probably had a side-bet on it.

"it's not your turn," Anakin decided, sizing up the competition. "Let's take down McGarrett first."

"You don't get to decide if it's my turn to cheat," Stark protested. "And why are we shooting him?"

He liked Steve. Steve helped with the mask situation! He'd probably still shoot him though. Just because.

"He has two partners, so he'll be more distracted," Anakin decided.

Yes, take on the team with the sniper and the bounty hunter, what could possibly go wrong there?

"Fine, you shoot him. Or one of the others."

Well Diego had the hottest partner in the class, hands down. That was not a biased opinion at all.

Annie would disagree, because she had the hottest partner in class, and they were seriously just the grossest people. Just disgusting.

"Well, we have the best team," Annie announced. "Seems unfair to the others, honestly."

This attitude would probably contribute to why they weren't going to win.

"For sure," Diego agreed. "The best looking team too."

Lana could do partnership; she'd practically pioneered it at the Academy. (Which wasn't actually saying much, but still.)

She hadn't really ever spoken with Five, but she was optimistically sure she could manage to work with him.

Steve already knew which teammates were Din and Arabella because he paid scary attention like that, so he pulled on his new shirt and walked over to where they were. "Hey."

Wanda didn't know Faye very well, but she did know she had been a Grogu-sitter so that that made her an okay person in her book. "You shoot, I'll shield?"

"Sounds like a plan," Faye decided, not even realizing that Wanda was going to produce some extremely effective cover for her. "Almost a shame these are normal shirts."

She'd gotten kind of used to the heinous-shirt shenanigans thing, honestly.
