The History of the Zora; Monday, Fourth Period [08/02].
"Hello, there," Sidon, of course, was clearly ready and eager to get started with class that week, all toothy smiles, pumped fists, and grand gestures as he greeted his students with the usual energetic aplolm, "my intrepid Zora historians! I hope you are ready to dive," would that choice of word ever not be amusing?, "into more of the thrilling tales of my people! Last week, we learned of a brave king and his faithful queen, and this week, we shall hear of another great king of the Zora, one that I am rather fond of myself, I must admit, because he is none other than my very own father!
"It was not long....not by Zora standards, anyway!...after King Dorephan, my father, current ruler of all Zora and of Zora's Domain....took his place on the throne, that a stray Guardian crossed through Upland Zorana into our domain! What is a Guardian, you may ask? What an excellent question. This...."
Here, Sidon turned his gestures toward the blackboard, where the students would find a very crude sketch of a some kind of six-legged mechanical machine with a glowing laser eye. Sidon was not an artist by any stretch of the imagination, but the general idea should still be there.
"...is a Guardian! A piece of ancient technology developed by the Hylian race known as the Sheikah, 10,000 years ago! Over the millenia, many Guardians have been unearthed and researched, and some of them have quite the mind of their own. They are incredibly strong and formidable opponants, with a laser-blast that will truly send any weak foe straight to oblivion, if they are not careful! And this stray Guardian that found its way into Zora territory truly seemed unstoppable! Our best soldiers' spears barely left a scratch on its tough metal hull! And if left to its own devices, the Guardian would truly rampage the otherwise peaceful and pristine Domain with its power and destruction!
"That certainly seemed to be our tragic fate until Dorephan, the king himself, still a bit green in the gills with his recent ascension, threw aside his regard for his own safety and came out to face the Guardian himself! Channeling a nearly supernatural stregth that would exhibit itself through the years and manifest in his massive size as he came into his own as a true king of the Zora, King Dorephan lifted the Guardian with his own two hands and hurled it into a ravine, as if it was no heavier than a mere pebble! The The impact of the fall left the Guardian in pieces on the floor of the crevace, where it was never to trouble another Zora ever again! Naturally, the citizens celebrated their king's valor and strength, and, from that day on, their trust and respect for him grew beyond compare!
"My father and his strength and bravery in the face of danger has always been a source of inspiration for me, as well as for my fellow Zora, who can be confident in the fact that their leader is worthy of the title! As a matter of fact, he still proudly bares the scar he earned," here, Sidon couldn't help but grin a little himself, as his head tail flickered as if to show off his own scars, one of the headtail itself, one on his side headfin, but those were tales for another class!, "on his forehead, a true token of his ultimate triumph against the deady machine!
"I can only hope that, one day, when I eventually take my father's place, I can lead my people with the same strength and bravery!" If he managed to survive that long, anyway! "And I hope, when you get the chance to meet him, which you hopefully will, you can truly appreciate all that goes into being an upstanding Zora King!"
Sidon finished his tale with a bright, eager grin, his eyes shining with pride and the excitement that one day, another Zora would stand in a classroom much like this one, regaling another group of students with tales of another future king's brave exploits.
"So! What do you think of that tale? And have you any thrilling stories of a leader's unprecidented bravery in the face of such a threat? You know I should love to hear tell of it!"
